Dark red with near black core. Blackberry, black cranberry, and a hint of birch on the nose. Full bodied palate echoes the nose adding firm tannins (natch) and medium plus acidity surrounded by lush fruit. Enjoy with beef dishes or hearty stews. Great intro to the variety. Drink now through 2028. — 5 years ago
Pisano RPF Tannat 2021 🇺🇾
A bold statement from Uruguay’s signature grape.
Crafted from 100% Tannat, this wine is part of Pisano’s most prestigious line, with RPF meaning Reserva Personal de la Familia, originally held back for family use only. Aged for 10–12 months in French oak, this is a powerful, intense, and deeply expressive red that doesn’t hold back.
On the nose: Explosive aromas of black plum, blackberry, charred tobacco, leather, and a heavy dusting of dark spices.
On the palate: A dark-fruited cascade, plum, blackberry compote, and baking spices unfold with layers of earthy, savory depth. Expect firm, drying tannins (classic Tannat!) balanced by juicy fruit and oak integration. Give it time, as it needs a good decant to fully show its hand.
Mouthfeel: Dense, textured, with a long, flavorful finish that sticks with you.
Food pairing? A must. Think grilled meats, short ribs, or slow-cooked lamb.
A wine that commands attention and celebrates bold Latino character, pure power with soul.

Really super light and refreshing Chardonnay — 5 years ago
Cute label. Good name. Color is light, but ruby red. Smell is toast with berry-grape jam. Hint of licorice stuff. Flavors are balanced and complex. Licorice and smoke. Flavors are awesome. Interesting and exciting. Bite with perfect berry compote. Cassis in there. Elegant and fresh. Nice stuff. Muy Bueno. — 10 months ago
Inky crimson color, high opacity, tawny rim.
Mushroom, forest, petrichor, cinnamon as a matter olfactory.
Thick, medium to full bodied, light acid
Lots to consider with this varietal.

Pisano “Río de los Pájaros” Reserve 2024
Progreso, Uruguay 🇺🇾
Overview
An impressive white out of 100% Torrontés grapes from the Pisano family estate, representing Uruguay’s Atlantic expression of this aromatic varietal. Subtle yet elegant, this wine redefines Torrontés with finesse rather than flamboyance.
Aromas & Flavors
Enticing florals, white jasmine, honeysuckle, and orange blossom, lifted by stone fruit and citrus zest. Notes of lychee and pear gently unfold as it opens in the glass.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with refreshing acidity and a rounded mid-palate. The texture is supple yet vibrant, giving a polished feel to a grape often known for exuberance. The finish is clean, layered, and persistent.
Food Pairings
Superb with ceviche, grilled shrimp, or Southeast Asian dishes with a touch of spice. Also delightful with goat cheese salads or simply enjoyed solo.
Verdict
A sophisticated take on Torrontés, aromatic yet balanced, expressive yet composed. A must-try example of Uruguay’s potential in white wines.Cheers!
