Veneto Corvina Blend

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 1989

Holy cow... 30 years and this wine is incredible! It hadn't lost ANYTHING. The fruit was gorgeous - velvety Luxardo cherry reduction, gravel mineral tones, fresh flowers on the nose, dried prunes.. they don't make wine like this in Valpolicella anymore I can tell you that much. This wine in the vintage could go to 40 or 50 years of age. — 4 days ago

This would have been a fun bottle to taste! @Matt Trader

Giuseppe Quintarelli

Rosso Cà del Merlo Veneto Corvina Blend 2010

Comes out of the gate swinging with closely interwoven fruit and spice, clay and wet earth. As it rolls along in the decanter(so hard to give it the time it deserves!) it starts to reveal some of its maturity - worn leather, cedar, warm hearth and incomprehensible lovely woods. Maybe hickory, cedar and smokey charged oak. At times it's smoked tomato and juicy beautiful barbecue. Had we granted the bottle the time, the story would have continued, perhaps forever. A whiff of VA was actually in balance and didn't offend me, with all the dried flowers and dessicated fruit leathers, all was welcome. A bottle of art, paired nicely with a rich pasta Alfredo. Age shown nicely, acidity still strong though I wouldn't wait too much more than a few more years. Thank you, Giuseppe. A story in every glass. — 3 days ago

Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore Corvina Blend 2015

Coming back to this wine a year and a half after I first rated it...still love it. Nice hints of fruit and exceptionally drinkable. Will continue to stock it as a house red — 6 days ago

Cà de’ Rocchi (Tinazzi)

Cà dè Rocchi Monterè Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore Corvina Blend 2016

Much too young... Nice minerality on the nose with gun powder and crushed rocks along a bit fruit and raisin. Strong acid backbone, strong tannins and a somewhat astringent finish with fruit and a drying impression. Too young yes, but very nice potential! — 9 days ago

Masua di Jago Classico Amarone della Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2013

A lighter style of Amarone suitable for everyday drinking. Almost more like a Ripasso in weight and depth. Not sure if this gets to the USA. From magnum. — 16 days ago

Superiore Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2016

Winebow inc NY. 13.5% abv. Dusty, raisins and cherry notes. Cherry. Raisin. Graphite. Meat. Spice and herb. Balanced bright acidity and medium smooth tannin. Very fresh without tasting green/too young. Bright cherry wine. Delicious on the second day too but slightly overpowered by the acid. — 5 days ago

Oh my. What an amazing Amarone. Dark cherry and overripe red fruit, licorice and tobacco. Very round and spicy. Long finish, very adequate to end with! — 4 days ago
