Veneto Corvina Blend

Giuseppe Quintarelli

Riserva Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 1997

I am learning to like these wines thanks to my friend Bruce Hughes. It needs fat and pepper to cut through the sweetness of the wine. That being said I can appreciate the quality of this wine. — 8 days ago

Le Bignele Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore Corvina Blend 2016

Baby amarone. Could have been better after a some. Air. Red berries, raisins, chocolate too. Nice nose. The palate is powerful, almost semi dry. Some tannins. Some nice layers of texture. An expending finish with red berries and raisins too. Very cool once again. I could have this every week — 9 days ago

Palazzo della Torre Veronese Corvina Blend 2014

A nose of young green cherry bark.

Pom juice with blue fruits, tarragon, touched it roasted oregano. A touch of vanillin on the back end, with fruit skin.

Mid to heavier weight, with a solid fruit/tannin ratio. An innovative and iconic wine. Always worth having one on deck.

Cà dei Maghi

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 2012

Medium red color with brownish accents. Sampled over a 2+ hour decant. Massive nose of chocolate that evolves to amaretto and you can smell the 16.5 OH. Syrupy and very port like. Medium minus finish which is surprising. Always nice to try something new as this might be my first Amarone experience. Thanks MG!! — 3 days ago

Monte Zovo

Recioto della Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2015

Paired well vs Dove dark chocolate, with fruit of wine and vanilla and chocolate flavors from the chocolate retained, complementary. Astringency of wine heightened somewhat. For 72% Ghirardelli just bitterness emphasized. — 4 days ago

Villa Borghetti Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 2014

The nose is *very* powerful : small red berries, tea leaves, caramel and vanilla. A hinch of raspberry too. A bit of warmth as well, and a bit of plum too. Very strong. The palate is powerful too. It starts with a very acid slide that goes down for ever, small red berries all along, layers of complexity : caramel here, soft silky touches there on the sides, franc tannins in the end and a blast of a finish with plum and small red berries dancing in a firework with a nice bitterness and a soft touch that never ends. After yesterday's amarone I wanted some more. This one is more muscular, yesterday's was more subtile and gracious.

Not cheap though, around 45€

Famiglia Pasqua

Amarone 2012

Lunar New year celebration at PA Margaret Kuo with 20 per CB tradition. Pino's 3 Amarone. Well balanced with earthy notes and most mellow and soft of the three. but I'd say still could us more time. — a day ago

Azienda Agricola Monte Zovo

Amarone della Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2010

— 9 days ago

Cantina di Soave

Cadis Amarone della Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2014

Small red berries, black and white pepper, strawberry, hay, leather a bit too. Rather discreet but complex nose. The palate is a real treat. So long, so intense! A very strong acid backbone which makes for a dynamic mouthfeel. Strawberry and small red berries dance all around it. Some width and a smooth touch on the sides, a bit of tannins too to spice things up. There is something else in the texture like a layer of silk with a touch of tobacco, I don't know how to describe it otheewise. The finish is everlasting with the small red berries and a nice acid/bitter touch that make it very classy. It blends a grand Bourgogne touch with a dynamic and fruitful châteauneuf du pape distinction. What a wine! — 17 days ago
