Veneto Corvina Blend

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 2008

Quite balanced and not the overripe alcoholic juice bombs a lot of Amarone's aspire to. Quite elegant, with a medicinal herb finish. Distinct. Tasting it young surprises me that this can age so long as I've had vintages going back to the 60's & 70's. — 8 days ago

Torre del Falasco

Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore Corvina Blend

At first fruity (red fruit) and easy to drink. Add the food (veal, but also duck and probably lamb) and there is the surprise: some spicy/pepper, still red fruit, nice acidity. Everybody’s friend but great complexity for those who look for it. — 11 days ago

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 2013

Dense dark crimson. Minerals Dark Berries and chocolate notes. On the palate concentrated and rich from the Passito process. Chocolate City with touches of tar. When in Venice do as the Venetians!! — 10 days ago

Riserva Costasera Amarone Classico Corvina Blend 2011

Bought at wine store in cernobbio. Very good, typical amarone. Not as sweet and too raisiny like traditional amarone though and has more complexity. Very good value at 40 euros — 13 days ago

Riserva Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 1997

Still one of my favorites, made by the hand of the maestro himself. I should have opened it a few years ago, it was a perfect 10 then. — 8 days ago

La Poja Monovitigno Corvina Veronese 2009

Mid crimson in colour. Notes of raisin and milk chocolate. Resinous - freshly turned soil and a touch of tar. Great intensity and yet only medium weight on this occasion for an Amarone - the feminine touch of Marilisa Allegrini? One of the 1001 Wines - we loved it. — 9 days ago

Valpantena Amarone della Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2010

Plum, rooibos, oolong tea, dried herbs on the nose. Balance between tannins, acidity, and residual sugar is pretty much spot on. Incredibly smooth for a wine with 16.5% ABV. Cherry and ripe tomatoes on the palate with hints of savoury notes (caramelised celery perhaps). Goes well with hearty and rustic food such as meat stew or homemade ragù. — 4 days ago

Ripassa Superiore Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2013

Bought at wine store in cernobbio for about 20 euros. Very full bodied, like Syrah, kind of tastes like port/Portuguese red wine, not like traditional amarone. good to drink alone. Very smooth and different. — 16 days ago
