Pinot and Pizza night! Some Pizzeria Rustico wood oven goodness to pair with this delightful Pinot. — a year ago

Fourth of five fun, fantastic, and frugal wines for everyday drinking. The kind that are an unbelievably great deal! Rioja from a classic producer and a great vintage at that. This wine has that perfect red wine color, not too faded not too bright. The nose is perfect as well: red fruit, chocolate, oak, and good hints of tabaco and leather. Pure decadence on the pallet: big, broad, bold and a lengthy finish. For around twenty three bucks this is a no-brainer, decanting is not even necessary. Cheers. — 4 years ago
Some thoughts on this bottle:
- The 22 g/L of RS show as about half that and is a component of why the wine tastes objectively delicious. I have suspicions as to why we in Niagara are a bit snobbish about RS but we really ought to get past that.
- Has just the slightest hint on the nose of the distinctive Niagara riesling note of black olive. I’m told that’s due to picking due to weather pressure and picking for necessity rather than phenolic ripeness. Will follow up as to how and when and why here.
- It’s really quite good. Definitely comfortably above average on any grading scale. But not as objectively high-quality as the chardonnay and that seems to hold true for the region. — 8 years ago

I’m not usually one to be a Chardonnay advocate but this one was a solid choice to pair with an overconsumption of pork dumplings. Not too buttery, teak wood, silky suede. — 6 years ago
Really lovely and super light. Berries and pepper. Accessible and balanced. Great value. — 7 years ago

Very smooth right away, gets better after open. More spice than fruit. Would love to get an old vine bottle from these vines in 20 years. — 8 years ago
