Block 1a Amadio Kersbrook Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

From the Mount Lofty Ranges in the Adelaide Hills. Medium ruby color. Tart red fruit and violet aromas. The palate features ripe cherry and cranberry flavors with hints of black pepper, black olives and dried herbs. Touch of poblano pepper. Medium-plus oaky finish and dusty and drying tannins. Muscular and bold. Drinking pretty well right now but should soften if aged for an additional decade. Thanks for sharing, Ron B! — 3 years ago

California Dundee Syrah 2007

This is the "Blue Label" that's, first of all, not very blue, and secondly, in my humble opinion, (don't shoot the messenger),not as enjoyable as the regular bottling. At least, on multiple occasions, has never been for me. Which is the exact opposite of SQN. Not that it's bad. Just not as seductive to me. Anybody else feel the same? — 11 years ago

Malbec FTW! Juicy and plush but still nicely structured a la Cab Sauv. Perfumed and elegant. Great work from MM. — 11 years ago

The Messenger Napa Valley Cabernet Syrah 2008

Had this autographed (Ryan Hill) with goose. It had enough good acid to hold up to the high fat content of the goose. Very bright fruit and a long finish. Worth the wait — 12 years ago

The Messenger Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Still young and red fruit forward- would still leave for another 5 years for more tertiary development. Small amount of tabbaco and forest floor on mid-palate..integrates tannins. Want nicely with a good hanger steak. — 7 years ago

Maison L'Envoyé

Chateau Vivier Monopole Fleurie Gamay Noir 2014

Maison L'Envoyé, The House of the Messenger, was born out of the Oregon/Burgundy partnership of Evening Land founder Mark Tarlov and Louis Michel Liger-Belair of Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair. Prior to his wine ventures Tarlov wrote speeches for Chief Justice Warren E. Burger, as well as directed the 1999 rom-com Simply Irresistible starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. I can only assume he's Frank Abagnale's little brother. This is some serious Beaujolais. Ultra pure floral notes of iris and lavender play well off the high-toned bright red fruit along with layers smoke, licorice, stone, and herbs. A stylish alloy of modern, Cru Beaujolais and rich New World decorum. — 9 years ago
