Very pale Provence-style rosé from old Garnacha vines in Gredos, one of the hottest regions for Garnacha in Spain. Vineyards are planted on granite and sandy soils, at over at 2,500 ft. in the village of Cebreros (which lends its name to the newly-established Cebreros appellation, where Soto Manrique is emerging as a key player). Fermented in concrete vats, with no skin contact, blanc-de-noir style. Lean, light-bodied, with subtle aromas of red fruit, strawberry, cherry and herbs. Zesty acidity. — 6 years ago
DO Cebreros, which is a new Denominación de Origen in Spain. If I were doing a blind tasting I might think this was a Bourgogne (Burgandy)! Sparkling bright red color, medium clear. Aromatic notes of strawberries and raspberries with smokey vanilla and tobacco undertones. Subtle earthy aromas and flavors of mushroom and slate. The tannins are so elegant, so refined, with a luscious, inviting acidity. Long, finish. This will age and just get better and better. Wow! — 7 years ago

100% Mencia. Dark berry fruit aromas with a high concentration of violets. Bright dark fruit flavors with a note of pie dough and oak. Beautiful smooth texture. Rich and bold. Great expression of this unheralded but outstanding varietal. Thanks for sharing, Petey! — 5 years ago

Didn’t expect it. A Pinot noir from Spain. Taste like good Burgundy. — 5 years ago
Riktigt galant sommarvin laddad med generös fruktighet. Lättdrucken utan att vara för tunn. Småpartierna. — 6 years ago
Opens slowly to strong notes of leather and blackberry. Excellent. — 8 years ago
Barrel fermented Verdejo I believe and well done. Gorgeous dark yellow honey color, ripe peach & vanilla on nose along with some minerality - something like stone w/hint of saline, herby and complex w/great acidic structure mingled w/tannic lift from the oak - balanced and delicious — 9 years ago
