Well balanced with endless layers of dark, dry fruit, Cuban cigar, cider, and clove. A fifteen year old Cab driven blend will great vibrancy and intensity. Vergelegen is a beautiful wine estate/farm in South Africa, between Stellenbosch and Somerset. You can tour the hundreds of acres Estate in a landrover like a safari. Fantastic visit!! Talking about visits…we, Spoken Wines, are packing our bags again and start another journey finding wine diamonds in the rough and tell their stories. Not in South Africa this time, but Argentina and Chile! Find us on Instagram to follow our journey. Question: any recommendations for Chile wineries to visit?? We will be in the Aconcagua Valley north of Santiago and in the Rapel Valley south of Santiago. I am not very familiar with Chile and would love to get some recommendations to reach out to. 🙏🙏 — 2 years ago

@Delectable Wine this is the 2012 Cape Winemakers Guild (Teddy Hall) Maria Van Swaanswijk Auction Reserve Chardonnay.
First wine for our annual DMV South Africa tasting. Medium to medium plus golden yellow. Lovely and layered nose with a chalky attack followed up by lemon zest, gravel, brioche and tropical fruit notes too. Vibrant acidity (6.5/10) and medium plus body. So smooth and rich on the attack with tropical and citrus notes with a bit of oak and creaminess as well on the palate. Long and lingering finish with minerality underneath. Needed a little bit of time in the glass to fully open up. Drink till 2022.
This is Teddy Hall's auction bottling at the Cape Winemakers Guild Auction for 2013. Made up of Chardonnay from Stellenbosch and Somerset West then aged in 100% French oak. — 8 years ago

From 80 year old Blaufrankisch vines in Austria. By the glass. Dusty red fruit aromas with touches of barnyard and pepper. Just medium bodied with with spicy red fruit on the palate and medium minus dry Tannins. A glass went well with Confit of Duck at Spring Restaurant in London where the chef is Australia’s Skye Gyngell. Highly recommended if you are near Somerset House near the Strand London. — 7 years ago

This Barrel Reserve Chambourcin was left to open for two hours and showed excellent after that. Medium tannins, slight taste of the American oak, dark berries on the nose and mid palate, and a smooth finish. I know there may be skeptics on KS wines but his is worth trying. — 9 years ago
