16.3%. Really good, Number 10 in wine tasting at Simpatico — 7 years ago
@Justin Harmon is a sage. Loving the vintage — 8 years ago
There’s a unique spice profile that marks Marius Shiraz. I do love it. Long long finish, tannin has a nice savoury grip balanced with dark black and red fruits. Florals in both flavour and smell, so much going on. A big step up from the 2014 Simpatico. Roger Pike has called it a day (https://rogerpike.com.au/news/), and at this point without any clear succession or sale 2019 will be his last vintage :( — 6 years ago
The 2014 Montrose has a bouquet that exudes class and sophistication: pure and mineral-driven black fruit, cedar and pencil lead, hints of blueberry developing with aeration although it never impedes upon the sense of terroir. The palate is medium-bodied with graphite-tinged black fruit, filigree tannin, a sweet core of blackberry and boysenberry fruit with a satin-like texture towards the finish. There is obviously some high quality oak used here, but it is simpatico with the fruit. For Montrose, you might argue that this is more modern in style and yet it is undeniably crafted with real panache to create a modern classic. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. Tried this wine out of curiosity over its 81 rating in the Wine Spectator. Not sure what they were smoking when they rated it, but I found it to be delightful. 2004 was a great vintage and this one didn't disappoint. Still had rich color and vibrant tannins. It deserves no less than a 90. Very tasty! — 8 years ago
Very nice. Classic Viognier, more full bodied — 6 years ago
Wish I had bought more. Sunshine in a bottle. Smooth hints of oak & citrus. Well rounded and only 255 cases made. We did a Napa vs Sta. Rita hills Sauv Blanc tasting & this was a winner! — 8 years ago
Soft, but luscious, good fruit that doesn't overpower. Delicious wine, full-bodied, and probably too much for the veal Marengo we had--a lighter red would probably have been more simpatico--but no regrets, too tasty. — 8 years ago
Delectable Wine

The 2017 Clos de Tart Grand Cru is showing a bit of new oak on the nose, but it is simpatico with the pure red cherries, cranberry and wild strawberry scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and a silver bead of acidity, full of tension and surfeit with energy. There is superb salinity on the finish, which lingers long in the mouth. Sexy and quite sensual, this is a wine that needs time for the terroir to come through. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, January 2022)
