Les Bédines Côtes du Rhône Red Rhone Blend 2015

Nose has smoked raspberry, over-ripe back cherry, red currant jam, (minor) leather, cedar shavings, baking spice (?), un-cut red pepper, blackberry and light alcohol heat.

Palate has black cherry pastry, tart plum, slightly hydrated prune, blackberry, (minor) green herbs and under-ripe black currant. Medium finish, decanted ~1h really needs more time to open back up.

Decent pairing with slowly grilled/smoked pork spare ribs. Generally spare ribs are my Zinfandel go-to wine, but the Zin's at the house are either too young, or much too old to accompany. This CdR is a solid partner.

You know exactly what you’re going to get when you open one of these. Big, dark bruising hammerblow. I could never do this night after night but I do like to indulge in this style every now and then. And esp with a plate of beef ribs. Though I believe we are just past it’s best window, so slug it if you’ve got it. — 11 days ago
