This was WOTN for me. First thing I noticed - and could hardly believe - was how bright red the wine still was being 38 years old. There was some funk on the nose but a ton of fruit as well. The fruit stood out on the palate - and the wine had a brightness to it I couldn't believe. Flavors of raspberries and gravel and still had a great acidity. The somm did note that there is a lot of bottle variation. He opened the same vintage recently and it was all mushrooms and little fruit - so he felt his bottle was a little atypical. But that worked for me. Paired well with Comte. — 7 years ago

An excellent wine, full bodied and vibrant. Flavors of cherry. Nice acidity very light tannins. Definitely out of my comfort zone and was surprised at how well this held up. — 7 years ago

Had the 83 of this and a couple bottles of 82 Raffault Les Picasses in the last 12 months. Fully agree with your assessment and it's pretty astonishing how well these age. Might be the best value in the world seeing how available and inexpensive they are to stick in the cellar. Amazing wines- if you haven't sampled Alliet, I think you'll be pretty happy with those as well.

I lost my notes but remembered really enjoying this and how balanced it was on both the savory/fruit profile as well as the tannin/acid front.

Was excited to see this on the list. A very French style of Cab Franc - but a nice balance of savory and fruit. A touch sour but very smooth, round and refreshing. Was excellent with food (beet tartare).
