Rattlesnake Hills Petite Sirah 2017

Petite Sirah from WA, cool. Nice expression of the rattlesnake hills on the bottle art. Dark, but not quite black as some Petite Sirah. Smells luscious. Rocks, desert shrubs, and red/black fruits on the stove. Maybe a hint of weed aromas too. Flavors are chewy, complex and savory. Has a nice woody cedar side. Tannic, but not over the top. This is a great version of Petite Sirah. Interesting and deep. — a year ago

Bodega Comando

La Bruja de Rozas Sierra de Gredos Grenache 2020

Comando G’s “village” wine - La Bruja de Roza, is the result of a collaboration between Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia. This wine is sourced from several vineyards in the vicinity of Las Rozas de Puerto Real (near Madrid). It is described as being “pure Garnacha from granitic sand, La Bruja is perfumed and lively with plenty of fruit with a backbone of acidity and fine tannin.”

If you have not tried any Comando G wines, you really need to seek and try. La Bruja de Rozas serves as a good intro to the Comando G wines. I would describe the 2020 as having notes of currants and red berries, as well as being a bit smokey/flinty. Not smokey in a bad way, but definitely prevalent on the nose. This wine is medium-ish body with 14.5% ABV.
