Petro and dry — 3 years ago
Aromatics of Talc, white flowers a little peach and grapefruit. On the palate citrus and peach with diminishing acid. Just a fabulous mature Riesling with just a hint of petro chemical developing in the form of paraffin. It stamps the Great Southern in Western Australia as one of the premium Riesling districts in Australia. One of the 1001 wines and deserves to be. I believe this is my first time with a Henschke white. Intense citrusy nose along with florals and undertones of petro (nothing even close to a Grosset). A very zesty palate of some orchard fruit and plenty of acid. A moderate finish that I expect will extend once things better integrate. I assume like many Australian rieslings this will age , Is that a valid statement @Bob McDonald ? — 7 months ago
Dry, citrus, petro, honey, new leather shoe — 3 years ago
15’ Château Pepe Clement. Should’ve decanted this for sometime. 15 needs a few more years in bottle. That being said… Petro soon opens up to this magnificent bottling. Orange blossom, pineapple, Honeysuckle. Zesty acidity. All spring out of the glass. — 4 years ago
Stonefruit, petro. Slowly but surely understand why somms love Riesling. A delight. — 2 years ago
Last of three bottles for Leila’s friends Deb/Evan who have such EtOH tolerance and desire! 7/11/22 late after dinner drink. A classic Riesling nose of slate petro white fruits goodness with complex acidic balance and long finish. Too bad I only had a taste. May be only bottle. — 2 years ago
Aromas of talc, honeysuckle, lime and kaffir leaf (should go well with a curry). No Kero. Palate is almost off dry - lime, under ripe peach, touch of pear, low acid - drinking beautifully. Amazing value for $26. Had another bottle on the 4th May 2023 with consistent notes - off dry with a ripe mandarin note detected, low acid. Another bottle on 8th December. TDN petro chemical aromas starting to develop. Almost an off dry style with a touch of residual sweetness. Still enough cleansing citric acid to prevent things becoming blowsy. — 3 years ago
Surprised by the quality and varietal signatures of this NAPA Riesling! Could easily confuse it for a good dry German Riesling. That oily petro white stone flowers and complexity carrying over to a good balanced palate and finish. Impressed. — 4 years ago

Mid gold in colour. Aromatics of yellow peach and honeyed notes. No traces of petro chemical. Medium plus intensity of stone fruit and mineral on the palate. Great depth. One of the top Rieslings in Alsace and showing it in spades. A beautiful Riesling and probably at its peak. Will stay on this plateau through the 2020’s. Interestingly about 25% went through malolactic so this is a different style from the usual Cuvée Frederic Emile. Very fresh for a 14 year old Riesling but remaining fleshy and M plus bodied. — 5 months ago
