A little over 2 years since my last bottle. While 07s have been a strange lot, this bottle was utterly sublime and totally in its prime. Pop and pour. On the nose: soft cola, pine, dark black raspberry, black olive with brine....sweet and intensely savory. On the palate: fantastic acidity, excellent density and weight with olive brine, black raspberry, classic Cote Rotie. Attenuated tannin, but lovely balsamic notes, and very juicy on the finish. — 4 days ago
Classic Chablis aromas of granny smith apple, crushed oyster shells, brine, and Kimmeridgian chalk. Light and freshing on the palate with strong lemon and brine notes with hints of cream. Delicious. Vineyard just outside Chablis, but basically a Chablis. Just as good as the Grand Cru, but not quite as fruity or complex. — 3 days ago
Straw yellow in color. The nose is pear, lemon rind, and honey. Lots of minerals and salty notes on the palate along with honey, pear nectar, peach, ginger, and savory stuff as well. Low alcohol and high acid. A great match for shellfish and salty cheeses. Sea snail anyone? Fabulous. — 5 days ago
Wow. One of the best cote roties I’ve ever had. A wine of exquisite detail and perfect balance.
Nose is violet lilac lavender. Blackberry flowers. Perfect integration. So elegant. Not heavy or intrusive despite everything that is going on.
Palate is such soft blackberry fruit. Almost velvety. Internal aromatics are insane. Delicious in an elegant way. More Mont Blanc than chocolate mousse.
Finish is flower extract and soft blackberries clinging to the palate and teeth.
As good as wine gets.
