75% Sauvignon blanc, 25% semillon. Richer and honey hued, tastes of melon, kiwi, mouthwatering acidity. More full bodied than a typical Sauvignon blanc - almost like an unoaked Chardonnay — 5 years ago
Because who doesn’t love to celebrate national Cab Franc day? @rudiuswines is Brittany & Jeff Ames label. Jeff was an early understudy to Thomas Brown, working on Schrader, Maybach, and Outpost amongst others while he developed his own client list, including Tor Kenward, Boich, and Anthem. It’s worth noting that the wines Jeff has produced for Tor have been some of my favorites for at least a decade.
The 2014 Rudius Cabernet Franc Sugarloaf Vineyard Napa Valley envelopes your plate with a captivating display of mouthwatering raspberry, savory loam, sweet tobacco, and just the right hint of bell pepper before the cocoa powder dusted finish rocks your world. Delicious is an understatement. This was so spectacular I opened it two nights in a row (run don’t walk to Sunshine and steal it for $40). #delicious #rediculouslydelicious — 7 years ago
Hungary - no wonder the nectar from Tokaji grapes are mentioned in your National Anthem. Yes, I did my research, after this slick, juicy, drop had me weak at the knees. Well balanced acidity paired with a medium bodied concentration, you’ll feel as if a delicate lick of butter, watermelon and lime is shimmying its way across all corners of your mouth - find where it visited by following the tingling tracks with your tongue. Anthropomorphism would unveil a suave talking Eastern European man called Ambrus, who’d need no introduction. Not to your parents, your friends, your dog, nor your gold fish. This, he too, knows. Green, steady eyes, tanned skin, a strong will, and a smile that’s so good, it’s cruel. A man they’d all love, but would hate you to date. Someone who’d stroke your head, but look to the horizon. A man that enjoys all company, but has no plan to stay around. That’s perfect - too much of a good thing is arduous. Drink up, and look forward to introducing Ambrus, to people yet to know his charm. — 7 years ago
Smells like tears... then nori. Tastes like the Wild West. Tumbleweeds blowing thru the outlaw town at high noon. Then like old folk songs by the fireside at midnight. Goddamn laureano serres. Then the tail end is all manischewitz & acidity. Also smells like dog tongue and stainless steel. — 8 years ago

My favorite by far from Long Shadow. Beautiful floral scent upon opening the bottle. Just the right blend of sweet and dry. No after taste. — 4 years ago
Bottled 2016, contains heirloom varieties from their own orchard in Applegate, Oregon: Arkansas Black, Blenheim Red, Macintosh and Rome Beauty. Very clear, yellow brown color, light to moderate carbonation, rapidly collapsing head. Very good mix of flavors; their label claims a profile of “apricot, honeydew, tropical fruit and green apple”. I would back the first three claims. Crisp and dry, as advertised. A touch too much wood for my taste, but otherwise well crafted with an excellent array of fruit. No bitterness and minimal astringency. Good value — 6 years ago

Cabernet Sauvignon, soft leathery and mint leaf into black fruit of goodness 🌝
Brightful of cherry, easy nighttime feeling and finishing of tobacco cocoa and blackberry

Dark fruit, oak, cedar, caramel, minerals, and a hint of pepper. A dry red that shines in the grippy and long acid finish. Reminds me of a Santa Cruz Mountains Cab. — 7 years ago
I got the brett. — 7 years ago
The Cabernet Franc is the central player here and 2014 fruit in Maryland is delicious. The wine is still young, but a little air helps the bright fruit and sweet tannins to integrate well. I plan to try the next bottle in two or three years and with a filet or leg of lamb. — 8 years ago
Enjoyed this with Tim in our new home — 4 years ago
Smooth fruity notes... discovered at National Anthem in Dallas... paired well with cheese enchilada double burger — 5 years ago
I must have got the best bottle of the batch. Glorious. Went down singing the national anthem. — 5 years ago
LOVE THIS WINE! So incredibly sad the winery is gone. 100% Petit Syrah. Great dark purple color. Nose of raspberries, red current, blackberries. Full bodied, velvet like. Taste of slight pepper, blackberries, jammy. Mmmmmmm..... miss this place!!! — 6 years ago
When the bottle is festooned with the rating, I invariably eschew said referenced bottle. However, this is a Pinot worth riding into town and absconding with a bottle and whatever loot presents itself to one’s outlaw sensibilities. — 7 years ago
This wine plays the outlaw image to the hilt. Lodi Cab faces off in a dusty street against Napa Cab, the fastest gun in town. They both shoot straight, but in different directions. Three Finger Jack has a nose of rustic black fruit, tar, forest floor, with only a hint of graphite. The palate leans in a more elegant direction, but still stands its ground as an “outsider.” It's a delightful drink, with plenty of pairing power and the tannic structure to prove it. — 7 years ago
Compared to the Anthem winery LPV wine, this one has just about an identical nose. The nose of this vineyard just seems to be a "purple" kind of note. But, the wine seemed to be very different. This wine was a little on the lean side. Entered with black cherry and a hint of fig and dark chocolate in the middle. Finished with a moderate youthful tannic bite. The sweeter side of this which it probably displayed 2 or so years ago has started to soften, and is starting to allow some more interesting notes in the future. Probably one of the more balanced LPV wines I've had to date without a doubt, but it failed to hit the upper rung of wines today. The Rudd Samantha's and 2005 Spoto Private Reserve stole the show. Regarding this wine, I think it's probably a good idea to lock it up for 5 years to see what it has in 2023. Considering what people pay for these bottles, you've got nothing to lose by aging it in this case. — 8 years ago
