Not as dry as Prosecco, very tasty — 2 years ago
A little mystery behind this twelve year-old English sparkling bottled by supermarket Morrisons, produced by ‘Rolling Green Hills Ltd’ who are believed to be Nyetimber. So, for £20, how does this wine made by the UK’s best stand up?
Pretty darn well.
The nose is a dead ringer for Champagne, not that that should be its goal, but I would definitely pin this as such rather than English had I tasted blind. Quite rounded on the nose, with plentiful aromas of toasted brioche, yellow apple, pear and burnt butter. The palate is open and generous, fat and buttery, and it glides through to a satisfying finish with great balance.
I have to say, this is incredibly impressive stuff given the context. Highly recommended!

As remembered. A balanced fresh bubbly that’s a good value. Bought by MO as part of a case to test aging. A fresh young counterpoint to the 2015 Nyetimber bubbly. — 10 months ago

Smooth, silky, and heavily aromatic with a nice amount of weight on the palate — 5 years ago
Medium lemon straw . Fine and consistent perlage . Quite yeasty and autolytic in character with brown bread , followed by lemon peel and camomile , elderflower . On the palate quite dry and austere at first , those brown bread yeasty notes coming through with citrus and a hint of ginger. Quite long and with good acidic backbone , and mouth-filling presence on the palate . Very good now , though like the Tillington single vineyard from this vintage , absolutely no rush . Now and over the next 5 to even 10 years . — 2 years ago
