My first sparkling Riesling and it is indeed fun and interesting. Bright clear straw color with little green flecks. A fine mousse with small energetic bubbles. A fantastic citrusy nose heavy on lemon zest and fresh limes. Apricots and pears. An abundance of green and red apples along with toasted bread. There’s some really nice wet stone minerality action here as well.
Easily one of the most intriguing sparklers I’ve had in a while. Very classically styled and so reminiscent of champagne in so many ways. Highly zippy acidity and innate freshness. Personality and character in droves. Bone dry and spunky with a medium body and a long finish. The palate is generous with more citrus fruit and just a bit of earth. This is a fantastic bubbly. — 2 years ago
We’ve been so excited to taste this German 🇩🇪 sparkling wine – Sekt – made exclusively from the Riesling variety in a brut (dry) style! 🥂
It’s from the Rheingau region and was produced using the méthode traditionnelle involving two fermentations, the second of which is in the bottle, offering close contact with the lees (dead yeast cells) that impart additional texture and unique aromas and flavors in the resulting wine.
On the nose we’re finding fresh cream, peach, apricot, white blossom, honeysuckle, dried white rose petals, petrol, and brioche notes.
The palate is dry with delicious flavors consistent with the nose. The acidity is medium(+); the body and alcohol are also medium. Despite a little bottle age, this wine is still incredibly vibrant and balanced.
This wine is a delightful pairing with the sushi 🍣

Light and citrusy sparkling wine that has a slight taste of a dry cider. — 4 years ago

Bright gold with diamond highlights. Abundant nose leaps from the bottle with yellow apple and honeysuckle. Medium full palate echoes the nose adding some stone and mild citrus rind. Medium plus acidity entry to finish. The Doctor is in! Classic rich Mosel expression of Germany's signature variety. Dry enough for most foods (Thanksgiving is a natural). Just enough sweet to please the crowd. Drink now through 2037. — 4 months ago
