Good wine easy to drink had with steak — 2 years ago
The wine appears as a very pale yellow in the glass. Its nose suggests more citrus and minerals than flowers and fruit. The aromas come across as a savory salinity, not the dainty sweetness which afflicts many Pinot Grigio wines. The palate follows suit, with a bit of the sea in the flavor profile that centers largely on limes, lemons and grapefruit. The finish is medium long and the minerals are the lasting impression. The acidity is zippy and fresh enough for seafood and salad pairings. — 2 years ago
Bought this at the winery in February 2019. Returning to the Mornington Peninsula this coming Christmas and having a tasting and lunch at Montalto - also a viewing of all the sculptures throughout the vineyard. Pale crimson with a tawny rim. Transparent. Dried cherry, roses with noticeable whole bunch influence. On the medium weight palate dried cherry raspberries and spice drawer with superb savoury texture. A good example as to why Mornington Peninsula is an excellent terroir for Pinot Noir (and Chardonnay). — 5 months ago
Great full body wine. Packs the kick of cab. Spicy and not too sweet. Good finish in back of mouth. Buy again. Bought at Bonnie Brae, Xander rec. — 2 years ago
Tasted semi-blind and wrote down the same thing I did for the 2018: it smells like church! I’m trying to figure out why I wrote it, but the minerality is similar to what you smell when you enter an old white marble church. Maybe some of the florals too?

Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, not Pinot Gris. Had a glass of this with dessert - no written notes again. Truly unctuous and delicious. Ripe pear and quince notes with low acid and profound intensity. A petrochemical/paraffin note. Made at the winery where we are having lunch. An excellent effort for a dessert wine from Montalto. The Mornington Peninsula road trip continues. — 3 months ago
