This was dope. What a surprise for muscatel. Dry, lemon, lime, so great. — 5 years ago
A blend of primarily 90% Pardina, also known as Cayetana Blanca and Jaen Blanco, this grape is grown abundantly in northwest Spain even though it is not commonly known in the U.S.. It displays a lemon-gold color, with a subtle nose of pear and fennel, and flavors of citrus and subdued melon in a medium bodied, medium acid, fresh white that is excellent when cold. — 6 years ago
Aromatic. Fruity. Oh so good. — 9 years ago
Incredible wine! So tasty (yes, that's the word!), even for a Galician Muscatel. No clue how much it costs, but anything up to €12 would be more than acceptable. — 10 years ago
Maravilhoso vinho. — a year ago
Doce, picante, beber fresco, alcoólico — 2 years ago
7 years old. This once famous fortified wine was saved from extinction by the municipality of Oeiras. Galego Dourado, Ratinho and Arinto. Orange/amber colour. Intense perfume of dried apricots, brown sugar, mint and rosemary. Not overly sweet in the mouth with tight acidity balancing the dried fruit and spices. Very good length also. — 3 years ago
Super light, great with food — 5 years ago

Region - Duoro / Variety - Moscatel Galego — 4 years ago
Flagship wine of Villa Oeira, a new estate founded by the municipality of Carcavelos to recover the historic fortified wines of this village in the outskirts of Lisbon (most vineyards have been lost to housing developments). Blend of Arinto, Galego Dourado e Ratinho from vineyards in the old estate of the Marquis de Pombal. Aged in oak for an average of 15 years. Intense nose with aromas of burnt sugar, caramel and raisins. Smooth, balanced sweetness, saline, long finish — 5 years ago
It legit smells like peaches. I can’t believe how good this is for moscatel. I expected sweeter. Well balanced. — 7 years ago
Galego nada acido, equilibrado — 9 years ago
Made of 30 years old vines this small production of little more than 2000 bottles,

Casa Velha – Douro Branco Blend – 2023
Douro DOC – Portugal 🇵🇹
Overview
A vibrant and character-driven Douro white made from 40% Gouveio, 40% Viosinho, and 20% Moscatel Galego Branco. Sourced from the historic Favaios plateau, this blend captures the freshness, floral lift, and mineral grace that define the best Portuguese whites — all while staying completely authentic to its indigenous roots.
Aromas & Flavors
Stone fruits (white peach, apricot), citrus peel, and yellow flowers, supported by a subtle touch of spice and a whisper of honeyed aromatics from the Moscatel component. Fresh, expressive, and pleasantly layered.
Mouthfeel
Medium-plus body with a refreshing backbone of acidity. Textured, lightly creamy, and rounded, finishing with a clean, persistent, almost saline brightness. A hint of oak adds charm without overwhelming.
Food Pairings
Grilled sardines, Portuguese cod dishes (bacalhau), garlic shrimp, Mediterranean salads, or soft cheeses. Excellent with light poultry and herb-driven seafood.
Verdict
A deliciously fresh and subtly complex Douro white that punches above its category. Indigenous varieties shine beautifully here, crisp, aromatic, and genuinely exciting. Vegan-friendly and wonderfully versatile at the table. Cheers! — 7 months ago
