Dark garnet. Inviting nose and medium full palate of black currant, black cherry, and a hint of patent leather mid palate to finish. Solid, medium plus acidity. Medium tannins. And that finish is fairly long, even cutting through pasta with tomato sauce. An excellent entree into Bolgheri: Cabernet-led but still squarely in the Italian mold. Surprisingly good (for the price) supertuscan. Had this wine at the recommendation of a friend of the vineyard owner, and had misgivings that it was a biased recommendation, but it exceeds all expectations. Very solid heavy berry fruits, peppery hints, taste lingers well after the gulp. For the price, I think this hits all the right notes. — 9 years ago
