Manuel Antonio De La Riva Y Pomar

Manuel Antonio de la Riva y Pomar

Gómez Nevado Colección Nº 1 Crianza Biológica

Unusual, unfortified Fino-style / Pálido wine from the north of Andalusia. Blend of Aris/Airén (40%), Palomino (30%) and Pedro Ximénez (30%) from organically farmed vineyards in Villaviciosa de Córdoba in Sierra Morena, in the north of Córdoba, quite far from Montilla-Moriles and Jerez (actually, this is northernmost sherry-style producer in Andalusia). Aged for 6 years in solera system under flor. Intense nose. Green olives, caramel, curry notes. Full-bodied, bolder than most Jerez Finos. Super savory, lots of umami. Long, salty finish. — 3 months ago

Cortijo La Fuente Colección No. 1 Crianza Biologica Pedro Ximénez

This is the. Bodegas Cortijo La Fuente.
A Fino from Mollina, heart of Andalusia.
Made from Pedro Ximinez, in solera for 5 years. Vineyard farmed since 19th C.
Limestone and sand.
You can sense the “ heavinesses “ of the Pedro Ximiniez on the nose, but it’s an almond fest, dry, w a touch of barrel and raisin to finish. Brandy like.
Not heavy on the palate.
Another discovery.

La Riva Manzanilla Pasada Balbaína Alta

Another amazing “almacenista” wine by Ramiro Ibáñez and Willy Pérez, from a small solera of 20 casks they bought from a small producer. Grapes were sourced from a small plot in the Cerro de los Cuadrados, within the Pago Balbaína Alta, located between Jerez and El Puerto de Santa María, not far from the coast (hence marked by the Atlantic influence). They selected 5 casks (with an estimated age of 15-18 years) for this bottling and left the rest to make Amontillado. Intense nose, notes of yeast, sea breeze. Elegant, concentrated, great texture. — 5 months ago

El Armijo Colección No. 1 Crianza Biologica

A single vineyard or “ Pago “ 9K from the Atlantic, In Sanlucar de Barrameda. Andalucia, Spain. Palomino Fino grown there since the 1800’s at least.
4 years under flor.
N: Very oxidative w the sea, vanilla in the background.
P: The creamiest semi salty 15° dream of the sea.,so easy going down, all the rough edges worn off. Slight kick of wood and vanilla. But old, not a kick in the face.
At15°, a wee bit dangerous in it’s innocence.
Come back after a day in the fridge, it’s got a heady/heavy marzipan nose that hits your palate bone dry. A wonderful juxtaposition of worlds. Still has that briny finish so nice in Manzanilla and long.
Thanks @enramistas.
