Apparently one of the oldest Distillery sites in Scotland. Located by the sea on the Isle of Islay this receives the slowest distillation of any Islay malt, then spends 16 years in old oak casks before being bottled. This is very pungent, peaty and smoky. One of my favourite single malts. — 5 days ago
Bob, You should go to Islay. Lagavulin and Laphroaig and are only a couple of km down the road from each other It’s a long way from Australia…I don’t want to imagine the flight connects.
@Jamie Lauder Thanks Jamie. I love Laphroaig as well - a toss up which is the most peaty. I’ve visited Talisker on the Isle of Skye which is the spiritual home of the Clan Donald (McDonald). Also had a tour of Glenmorangie over on the east coast.
Brandon's bottle was better than mine. A little heat, a little sweet. Honey, cornbread, cinnamon, tobacco. Tight, clean finish. Listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers. — 9 months ago
Uh Dave, I don’t know this Brandon guy but I’m calling someone on the table. We review the Gold versus Van Winkle and rate Gold a bit below. Ok. Fair. But what’s with the Grand Pappy in the background and the invite in my mailbox missing?! Something is way off ;) looks like a great night. At some point I do want to try bourbons with you!
Yeah! 'Twas a good evening. I didn't get around to reviewing a few bottles, including the Pappy. You'd be upset if I did (it was disappointing) 😬 We did pour some Rock Hill Farms which was outstanding.
I've bought this for the past 4 years, and this bottling is the most fruit forward. Candied fruit- apricots, cherries, and dates. The price has gotten out of hand, but it's yummy! Listening to CSNY — 4 months ago
