Outstanding dessert wine. Rich, not too sweet. Beautiful amber color. — 4 years ago
Oak. 1 hour should be required. Concentrated. This has good taste different from Brunello. Moreover, this would possibly better because 2014, such young vintage has already been ready to drink! @950, Eva - XH, 190508-190509 — 6 years ago
Crooked Stave Nightmare on Brett Dark Sour aged in Leopoldo Bros Whiskey Barrels. July 2015, Batch 6. A mouth coating sour with so much going on. Long finish and the whiskey barrels add a nice underlying caramel note. Wish I had a 750 ml bottle. 375 ml is not enough. — 9 years ago
In 1877, Illario and Leopoldo Ruffino laid the foundations of their dream to make Italian wines from the heart of Tuscany. Medium Ruby red color with aromas of dark berry fruit and earthy spice, blend of 80% Sangiovese with rest Merlot and Cab Sauv. On the palate flavors of black cherry and plum with tobacco, pepper and earthy cedar notes. Full-bodied, well balanced soft drying tannins on a smooth medium+ finish. Grab some Italian food and enjoy the great value wine. Consistent quality, a Fav!! — 9 months ago

Visited this winery in Tuscany and had this shipped to the states. Perfection! — 10 months ago
Founded at end of 1800 when Lavinio Franceschi, Florence land owner, visited the area. Over a century later, Tenuta covers an area of 530 hectares (140 planted with vines; 50 with olive trees). Aged in French oak for 36 months, 100% Sangiovese hand picked from 20-year old vines. A Gem! Deep Ruby. rich berry fruit aromas with complex spice. Palate has rich berry fruit flavors, baked cherry, with tobacco, cacao & subtle spice. Soft tannins, long finish ending with seductive earthy tones. Nice, aged well! — 4 years ago
Tenuta Il Poggione was founded at the end of 1800 when Lavinio Franceschi, land owner from Florence, decided to visit the area after hearing the stories from a shepherd, who brought his herds around Montalcino during the winter. #46 on Spectator’s 2017 top 100 list. I gave a blind tasting and threw this in with their Brunello, this “Baby Brunello” caused a stir! Red berry bouquet with cherry and citrus flavors, fine soft tannins, medium+ tangy finish ending with earthy spice notes. Great value! — 7 years ago

Dark cherry notes. Had with grilled chicken but would also do well with dark chocolate — 6 months ago
