Nosiola in Trentino. One of the best and most surprising wines of the trip. Called this one in a blind tasting (pats self on back) ok, well, there were only 3 options for variety, but the vintage was my triumph.
Nosiola is a bit of a chameleon. In warmer vintages (like most recent ones), it’s more floral with lower acid. But when it’s great, it can age like a great white burgundy with that hazelnutty mersault quality and savory notes. The rest of the group guessed the wine was 5-7 years old but the deep color and ethereal texture made me think it was older. — 10 months ago
From DCanter 2019 on 7/31/2021. Clear light ruby. Cherry lollipop scent. Silky, pronounced tannin, long finish. Non-ripe Stone fruits esp red plum. Emily has s right: hibiscus, violet, cranberry, pomegranate. Some pepper on back end. Good balance as medium body. — 3 years ago

Drank 12/30/20.
A selection from the Costco Wine Advent Calendar.
From 325 mL.
Plum, cherry, leather, and a bit of spice scents lead to flavors of black raspberries, black cherry, and leather. A bit lighter, and higher acidity than what I'd expect from most cabs. I would think this had an Italian varietal blended in, but there is no mention of anything other than cab on the label.
