Introduced to this on our last trip to Fredericksburg. My fav from this winery — 8 years ago
Some Texas pink for Mother's Day! Decent juicy fruity rose from the Texas high plains made from Cinsault (since it is grown in Texas they for some reason decided to rid the name of its 'L' to make it less French, lol). None the less, refreshing with ample acidity - honeydew, watermelon, raspberry creme, Meyer lemon - oily texture, dry finish. — 8 years ago

I like. And it texas?! — 9 years ago
Cellartracker was quite harsh on this one, because someone gave it an 85. On the last trip to Fredericksburg, we discovered the existence of this wine and were able to taste the 15 and 16 Rose wines side by side. This one was the clear victor. Strawberry and rose petals on the nose. The entry is strawberry crush and a Rose petal perfume out of the glass. Medium density. Great acidity. The middle of this wine goes to an herbal hearthiness with a great limestone and mineral grit, with excellent long finish. The 16 by comparison tends to have a lot more citrus and pink grapefruit with higher acidity. Still pretty damn good but this seems to be typical for 16 TX Rose across the board except for Kuhlman. Texas makes some awesome Rose if you know where to find it — 9 years ago

Allocation on this wine is rather low. Poured a little more pale straw colored than some other years of this wine. Nose is herbal, peach, lemon. Entry is Meyer Lemon, peach and honeysuckle. A little more rounded than I thought it would be with a little bit more tame acidity in the front. Goes a little more herbal on the finish. Lemon tart and more acidic on the finish. Great balance. These Kuhlman Roussannes have shown age-worthiness with the 2012 still going strong. — 7 years ago
I really want to like this wine. I will say that this has definitely changed, but I'm not so sure that the overall score changes much for me (last note was 8.9 for different reasons). This is not a zin that is true to form. I get tart fruit here, and plum. I don't think either of those characteristics belongs in a zin. I am happy with the weight, structure, and finish of this wine. It is a well made wine which is made by a winemaker that is to be respected. But the wine just doesn't do it. More reminiscent of zinfandel via the nose, which is a little bit brambly in characteristic, some flowers, some black and purple fruits. But the entry is sharp, tart, plum, some raisin, fig, earthy middle, acidic finish which has a mild tannin. Definitely wouldn't kick it out of the bed for eating crackers, but I would have guessed that this was a mixed grapes wine that was headed downhill maybe a touch. — 8 years ago

Compared to a lot of Roussanne offerings on the Texas wine Trail, this one is Roussanne Elite. To get more specific, compared to the Kuhlman Roussanne, this one is enjoyable but not there as the "go-to." Now the 2012 Newsom Merlot...OK, back on track with this Roussanne. The wine starts off with a very nice lemon and citrus front. Acidity is sharp, although not as sharp as the Chenin they also offer. The awesome part about this wine is what is does in the middle and finish, where it thickens up, has a great number of serendipitous notes from citrus to melon to floral all kind of pop in and tickle your tongue. Finish is quite velvety, yet still maintains a subdued acidity. Really nice, and probably top 10 white wine from the Tx Wine Trail. — 9 years ago
Gypsum, a cuvee of 44 percent Cincaut, 44 percent Aglianico, and 12 percent tempranillo....and 100 percent enjoyable with chicken soup on a colder evening. Wildflower and red berry nose with a hint of tobacco, bell pepper, and youthful raspberry front with herbal middle and acidic drunken earthy red berry finish. One of the few Texas producers who knows how to make solid wines from TX grapes. — 9 years ago

If you haven’t tried Texas wine but do have very high standards, you must check out Kuhlman Cellars! Award winning Roussane is bright, crisp, with lingering smoothness that will delight your palette. The best combination of French and California right here, but from TX!! — 7 years ago
@Delectable Wine this is the estate grown Kuhlmanation Rosé... it was not in the database.
This is an incredibly balanced wine. The nose on this wine is strawberries and peach. The entry is more of a nectarine than peach. Very thick and viscous. The middle is where more of an herbal characteristic shows and a hint of watermelon. Pineapple and kiwi shows up at the finish. Intriguing bottle of wine. Most complex bottle of Rosé I've ever had. 9.4 and not ashamed to give that rating. Kudos Kuhlman! — 8 years ago

At the price, this is probably one of the best QPR buys in SB. Pours a light straw into the glass. Nose of lemon and peach. The entry of this wine is mostly lemon rind, and some pineapple. Finishes with a hint of limestone on the palate, strong lemon notes, some tart, makes your mouth pucker. Good grip to this wine. Will be a great summer drinker, if I can make any of my remaining bottles last that long. Sadly, none of them will make it I'm almost certain. — 8 years ago
OK, so the first one of the new vintage went down tonight! And, dare I say that I think that this one is going to hold just as well as the 2015. I still need to take one of these to the lockup. This seems to be a more acidic Viognier than the 2015. Mouthfeel on entry is thicker than the wine evolves to be. First is a lot of mango and a hint of kiwi, and ends with more acidic citrus notes with a hint of honeysuckle. Bought slightly more of this than the Roussanne. Haven't had any of that yet, but soon! — 9 years ago
2016 Hensell Rose by Kuhlman. New release. Lots of bright acidity. Young strawberry, some watermelmon, citrus, and minerality, in the middle and finish. Crisp. Damn fine for a day like today. Winemaker from Provence France. 100% Mourvedre Rose, and absolutely beautiful wine for a day like today. — 9 years ago
This is my favorite of red wines that they have produced. Dark, jammy cinnamon fruit cake backbone. Petite Sirah is very present. Lots of dark Blackberry, spice, hint of Ash. Full-bodied wine. French wine maker with amazing talents doing great things with Texas grapes. Cheers! — 9 years ago
Just great fruit presence, hints of oak,......balance, balance, balance. Nice showing. Kuhlman is the real deal and will be at the top tier of Texas wineries for years to come. — 11 years ago
