Great wine. Delicious with good balance of oak and creaminess. — 5 months ago
There are worse ways to start a Saturday then tasting & talking wine with Tor Kenward & Andy Beskstoffer having the 1980 BV George Latour Private Reserve & multiple vintages of Tor. Wine 94 technically but age & style 9.6. The experience a 10.
Dark, brooding, delicious. Round, lush and elegance on top of elegance. Lush, perfectly ripe; blackberries, black raspberries, black plum. Smooth dark spice, dark chocolate, sandalwood, candied, dark, red florals framed in violets & lavender, excellent acidity. Balanced, perfect tension & structure and beautiful elegant finish that lasts 90 seconds.
Andy Beckstoffer sold fruit for $150 a ton in the late 1970’s, early 80’s. Today, $50,000 plus a ton and a percentage of the producers bottle price. — 9 months ago
Wonderful wine. I tried it at their tasting room in 2018 and bought 3 bottles along with some other Tor cabs. I opened a bottle 2 years later and enjoyed it. Friends at my local wine shop were very impressed. I am now opening up a 2nd bottle, which is now 9 years old. It is even better than I remember. The nose is flush with dark fruit especially dark cherries. The palate is dark cherries, blackberries with a hint of anise, chocolate, and leather. It paired well with a choice hanger steak. It also paired well with some Godiva chocolate lava cake truffles. I look forward to opening the 3rd bottle some time in the future and a single vineyard cab. — 9 months ago
Apricot, peach and camomile on the nose and palate. Presents regal density and viscosity on the mid palate. Finishes with roasted almonds and soft acidity. Caresses the palate in all the right ways. — 4 months ago
Butter, apricot, and lemons. Silky smooth with a satisfying finish. — 6 months ago

Stunning. When To Kalon still had Cline 6. There is no more Cline 6 today in To Kalon.

It’s a night of consecutive first year decades, 90 & 80. Enjoyed in reverse order.
I had an 80 from Andy Beckstoffer’s cellar at Pebble Beach Food & Wine in April 24 with Andy & Tor Kenward. This library bottle I bought recently at K&L is better than what I had a Pebble. Just look at the cork!
Glorious mouth entry. Juicy, perfect, ripe fruit that shows age but it is not missing a step. Blackberries, black raspberries, dark, juicy, poached strawberries, baked rhubarb mid, dark cherries, candied raspberries to raspberry pudding. Just a touch of v/a, chocolate pudding/fudge, mocha, caramel, light, soft, sun tea, softened baking spices- cinnamon, clove, nutmeg & vanillin, some fresh & dry herbs, dark, rich soils with dry leaves, evolved, dark spices w/ some palate heat, dry top soil, limestone powder, hint of mint, with & fresh florals that are; dark, red, blue & liquid violets and lavender sprinkled in, perfect acidity and perfectly balanced, softly tensioned, knitted and a refined finish that lasts two-minutes.
This bottle is in a perfect spot & as good as it gets. Perfectly stored. It has another 5 years. Liquid, velvety tannins. One of the more perfect bottles I’ve had in 5-10 years.

Dark fruit and allspice in the nose. Dark fruit, especially black cherries and currents with a hint of nutmeg. This is a really good Grenache. We are trying it as part of a Grenache tasting of one from Napa, Oregon, France and Spain. — 9 months ago

A surprisingly balanced ‘15, aging beautifully. Much to taste and think about. A true pleasure, refined, nuanced and taking center stage — 14 days ago
