La Viarte

Colli Orientali del Friuli Tazzelenghe 2010

Tazzelenghe is for explorers - a foresty wine for foresty people. This rare grape is native Fruilian and an idiosyncratic combination of many things we know well. A nose of ripe blackberries, mint and menthol, forest floor, leather, and dark chocolate fudge. Big ripe chewy tannins so obvious, they make you wonder what a decade would do. Flavors of a blackberry mint Julep. — 3 years ago

A favorite of the owner at the rum bar Bar Julep in Setagaya. Smooth and light on the sweetness. Soft vanilla. Very enjoyable. — 7 years ago

14 Hands Winery

Limited Release Kentucky Derby Columbia Valley Red Blend 2012

Great blend from 14 hands - festive cover for a great fruity red blend ... You can hear the traditional sound of the horse racing starting horns (even though the derby does call for a mint julep) to round out the experience! — 10 years ago
