Not as good as prior bottles, fruit is starting to fade, though plenty of acidity to balance what fruit is left, Ramisco grown in the sand in Portugal lasts a long time!! (11% ABV)!!! — 11 days ago
@Tom Casagrande, on the plus side, 11% ABV, great acid, soft tannins, no soy/mushroom notes, got better as it aired, ready to drink. On the minus side, fruit is a little less expressive, not much aromatically. Will await your note when you open it.
I find these wines magical but also struggled with these same bottlings from 97’, at least according to my Delectable notes 5-6 yrs ago, I wonder too in retrospect whether they go through ‘ dumb’ phases & the wine shuts down, similar to Raffaults Chinon for example. I have a few ‘09 Ramisco bottles cellared but really curious how@Tom Casagrande bottle will turn out @Doug Powers
Don’t know if I settled down the third time around or the wine did, but a more focused experience this time. Who knows, maybe three times a charm. An ethereal light to medium body, all balsamic, mushroom notes & wild black currants. — 6 years ago
