GG Am Buhl Grauer Burgunder 2020

I love this wine but I’ll admit it’s niche. Glorious confectionary nose. Clearly too young, as this wine really sings starting at 10, but whatever, I got too much wine to drink them all at the perfect time. Sweet wood, stone fruits and intense minerality. Some pollen as well on the nose. Such a complex nose. But in 5 years watch out! Palate is so elegant and rich but fresh from the minerals and not the acid which is merely solid. Really coats the tongue. So good. The finish is stone fruits, sweet wood and that rock licking feeling on your tongue. Just a killer Grau because it’s got that Laible magic. — a month ago

Stony, mineral nose. Very Grau. So clean an airy. Like a summer breeze In a rock quarry. Terrific richness without being too cumbersome. Precise and nice. I wish Americans would embrace grau and weiss. You're missing out. — 9 years ago

Sensvs Criança Pla de Bages Syrah Cabernet Franc 2013

Wonderful nose - macerated berry, tomato leaf, mild cheese (cheddar maybe) white pepper.

Flavor. Medium alcohol, medium high acid, silky and delicious, nose matches taste - tighter tannins. Very good.

L'Efecte Volador Montsant Red Blend 2022

I’ve been told by locals that Montsant is the region that makes Priorat style wines but at a better value (and they don’t mean that euphemistally, they do mean better value). On the map, it almost envelops Priorat. So far, so true. Raspberries and stone fruit predominate. Maybe a touch hot. Didn’t blow my mind, but it’s definitely a competently made wine from good grapes. I will definitely be back for this one. — 6 months ago

Baden Spätburgunder Rosé 2016

I will try this many times this week. As I build my own Argon line “ha”. Quite tame compared to previous vintages. Needs air. Chill slightly and drink like a red! So this one is elegant sour strawberry 🍓 if that exists? Wild yeast on the nose. Needs some cellaring 2-3 years. Tons of acid a serious wine. Touch Cardamom? With air licorice! Really really good but I miss the herbs 🌿 found in previous vintages just a tad too nice. As always an unreal wine. The producer recommends decanting!!!! Next up the Weiss/Grau from E&M May be tonight. — 6 years ago

I still have the 2013 Rose. That one was the most difficult to get my head around. There are still a couple of bottles left.

Weiss & Grau Burgunder Weißburgunder Grauburgunder 2021

Wonderful slightly orange wine. Nice aromatics. Texture is excellent, what I assume must be a bit of skin contact is fine with great deft. Long finish and great acid. Excellent with orecchiette with sausage and broccoli raab. — 9 months ago

La Petite Agnès Priorat Red Blend 2015

What’s this? A reasonably priced Priorat that I actually enjoy? Now I’ve seen everything. The fruit is actually fresh and lifted and the minerality is right up front. — 6 years ago

Lots of tropical fruit and Stoney minerality. Long finish and excellent on this hot day in Girona Spain! — 9 years ago
