The 2018 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva Binomio is hauntingly dark and floral, seducing with its rich mix of grilled herbs, plum sauce and dark chocolate. It floods the palate with medium-weight textures and polished red and black fruits, yet beneath is a core of salty minerals and lively acidity that adds both depth and energy to the experience. Lightly structured and wonderfully refined, this tapers off with length, leaving inner violet florals and a bitter twang of currant to linger through the otherwise-juicy finale. Binomio, a collaboration between Inama (Veneto) and La Valentina (Abruzzo), nailed the 2018 vintage. It could use some time to soften a bit through the finish and for its aromatics to evolve; but otherwise, this is already irresistible today. (Eric Guido, Vinous, October 2022)

Soft. My comparison with the Chilean carmenere is prob unfair given this is 30% Merlot. But it still has that distinctive carmenere taste. Nice fruit. Soft sandy tannins. The Merlot softens this. Very nice wine. — 4 months ago

Very different style of Soave (if you have Inama in mind, for example). More direct, less structure, but very clear tasting notes, and an elegant minerality. Buttery finish, without being cloying. Really enjoyed it — 3 years ago

No formal notes . Quite pale lemon yellow . This is quite ripely fruited , with touch of apricot , spiced lemon peel , pineapple , white peach . On the palate this has good freshness and slightly creamy texture . White peach and citrus peel with white almonds , good acidity . Reasonable length , grippy slightly toasty finish . Enjoy now and over the next 5 years . Quite modern and international in style , but well made and convincing.

Stunning, brawny, tannic. 15% abv, but it’s tucked in very elegantly.
A very dense, rugged presentation on the palate. Pronounced oak treatment, in a good way. Very fruit-forward, with ripe tannins, and extended finish. Big surprise.
