Vinha da Fonte Reserva Red Blend 2021

Dark ruby color. Scent and taste of blackberry and baking spices. Well-structured, mild tannins. Absolutely lovely for the price. Found it at Trader Joe's. — 4 months ago

Florao Quinta da Fonte Souto Branco 2021

2021 vintage. Quinta da Fonte Souto is the first project from the Symingtons outside the Douro region. A 207 hectares estate with a around 45 hectares od vineyards in a cooler climate ( 500 m alitude) than the Alentejo plains. Florão is the entry level. This 2021 is a blend of Arinto ( 80%) and Verdelho ( 20%). Attractive nose with fresh ripe pineapple, flowers and a hint of fresh mint. Crisp and juicy. Very good value. — a year ago

Vinha da Fonte Touriga Nacional 2021

Actually a blend of Cab Sauv, Castelão, Syrah, Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet. This wine is a very dark purple, almost inky. The nose is also dark, showing blackberry notes alongside savory tobacco, spice and earth, all in a very smokey framework. The palate of this interesting blend is nearly stunning. Tannins have a good grip, but the blue fruit flavors are amazing and the acidity leaves the sipper salivating. It seems bizarre to me that this wine cost less than $10. It drinks like it should cost much more.

Monte da Peceguina Alentejano Aragonês Blend 2018

Ripe & fruit forward with dark cherry & blackberry and a whiff of Mediterranean herbs.
Rich yet very fresh & balanced on the palate with beautifully polished & juicy tannins and a perfect balance between the sweet fruit and sappy acidity.
This is a nice one - richer & heavier yet very drinkable at the same time.
Excellent match with grilled meat.

Portalegre Quinta da Fonte Souto Tinto 2019

45% Alicante Bouchet—oooh, a teinturier—plus 30% Syrah (which makes its presence known in smoky, meaty notes) and 25% Alfrocheiro. Hearty wine, textured without being, say, thick. There’s a bit of raisination on the nose countered by salinity, a little licorice and a lot of smoked meat. On the palate, it keeps on with that contrast being heady but also vibrant. There’s some silky chocolate vibes underneath it all. A delight for dinner, but you can sip it solo if you so choose. — 8 months ago
