This is the new Decades release, not the 17. This is the best bourbon I have tasted in a long time and is a blend of 10-20 year old whiskey, with the core made of 14-16 year old spirits. The result is so easy to drink that it is hard to remember to taste- but when I concentrated, the complexity was beguiling. Like great tête de cuvée Champagne it is so well balanced that it grows in memory. — 9 years ago

Vanilla, toffee, and marzipan on the addictively sweet nose. On the palate, the spices and rye rise out of the vanilla. The finish is long, and evolves as you enjoy the flavor. — 11 years ago
Taste like a Texas bourbon. Strong heat, but a sweet finish with caramel. — 12 years ago
Louisville cigar company. Spicy and a good bite! Nice flavor. Goes good with a cigar. Very good with the diamond crown Julius Cesar cigar rec’d by burr. — a year ago
Sweet and not smokey or Petey. Rhonda loves it. Harper Seldin gave us a 10 year old bottle. — 7 years ago
Just got this. — 9 years ago
The 12 year has grown on me. Still my least favorite from the ORVW line-up but a solid bottling nonetheless. No where near the secondary market price (which is ~$500 or so?). Still would take bottle of the 10 year over this any day. — 10 years ago
For $40 it hits all the time classic notes vanilla, caramel, oak with a overarching sweetness and solid viscosity very solid pour for the price — 2 years ago
Solid enough, but disappointing for the price/reputation. Nose of acetone, caramel, vanilla and orange zest. The taste is more of the same, with an added metallic bitterness on the end that is pretty unpleasant. It’s remarkably rough for a 10 year old whiskey. I dunno. It’s interesting but I expected more. — 3 years ago
Solid product, but lacks depth. Heat is pleasant but not overpowering. The vanillin on the other hand is overpowering. — 8 years ago
Lovely sweet toasty raisins bourbon — 9 years ago
10 year old 1979 beam special edition. Incredible! — 10 years ago

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Beautiful nose of blackberries, blueberries, black plums, black cherries, cedar, light vanilla, licorice, chocolates, earth, light coffee, tobacco, light toast, mediterranean spices, black pepper and herbs.
Full bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cooked cherries, cedar, toast, light vanilla, spices, dark chocolates, licorice, coffee, peppercorn, earth, herbs and eucalyptus.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This 3 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is already drinking gorgeously. Nicely balanced, fruit forward and very complex.
I had the 2019 vintage a few years ago and it is very consistent.
This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Has good potential to become a 95 point wine.
Spicy and entertaining with a soft mouthfeel. The alcohol is well integrated already.
I gave it 2 hours in the decanter to open up.
A great sipping wine that will pair nicely with a big piece of steak too.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in French and American Oak barrels for 22 months. A tiny production of less than 1,200 bottles.
14.8% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
