Smooth. Good all rounder, you couldn’t be offended by it — 5 years ago
This was pretty kick butt. It definitely could use a bit more age to fully round out. — 6 years ago

@Delectable Wine : This is the Aonair Winemaker’s Reserve bottling. I didn’t see it in the database.
When I asked Grant what the “winemakers Reserve” was, he said “the good sh*t”, so I’m not sure what the makeup is here. Having enjoyed quite a few Aonair wines over the years, this seemed more like the Cabernet Reserve as opposed to the Mountains Proprietary sporting the higher toned red/black fruit profile with a bit of tangy oak. Very unique as it seemed a cross between American and French oak. Dark chocolate frosted black cherries, currant, violets and a mixed berry pie dominate both the nose and palate. Fine grain tannins at the finish. This needed a few hours to open up as the aromatics and palate were a roller coaster. Give this a few hrs of air or hold another 2-3yrs. — 5 years ago
Great blended malt scotch. Slightly sweet. — 6 years ago
Very smooth, would definitely buy again. — 7 years ago
Vibrant fruit, blanched almonds, not so flor dominant. Develops interest on the finish.
Bottled 05/2018 — 7 years ago
With friends in town during Thanksgiving, I hit up some wineries that I’ve been curious about. Super cool experience at Aonair. Grant Long, Jr has created something special there, and with David Yorgensen at the helm with the wines, it feels all dialed in. Their Grenache was a surprise to me. From El Dorado and there’s some initial funk, but it blows off and what’s left is a balanced, mineral driven, but kirsch laden, and yet still, a bright style wine that’s quite reminiscent of something from Chateauneuf du Pape. — 8 years ago

Apologies for self made label but I secured a dozen btles via a direct offer for some unlabelled bottles.
However the product itself is excellent and very pleased with my purchase.
Halliday always rates each vintage of this wine between 95 and 97 points, at 9 years old the 2016 still has lots of time to develop further.

I haven’t had this wine since the late 2000’s.
As good as I remember it.

Worth waiting for three hours — 6 years ago
It is drinking beautifully with nice soft tannins with an abundance of dark berries. It is fantastic for a Shiraz that’s 24 years old this year. The inky blackness of youth has matured to include shades of brown. It’s probably at its peak but I shall keep at least one bottle to try again in 5-10 years! — 6 years ago
