Ballantine’s Single Malt Speyside 15 YO, 003, the Glentauchers — 8 years ago
Utterly fantastic. Got turned on to this from a guy at a scotch place on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. Wasn’t at all familiar with “single cask” bottlings...but clearly with the right person making the selection, the result can be off the charts. Easily among the top 10 scotches I’ve ever had, this is brilliant. Great nose that provides layers of sweet malt, some molasses, and a hint of peat, this has a beautiful mouthfeel with an expansive palate that just blossoms with hints of sherry, vanilla, and spice, ending with a seamless, lingering finish. Awesome. — 8 years ago

Nostril notes of briny oysters, golden raisin, clover honey, burnt cedar, vine charcoal. Big palatal forefront of cinnamon roll, coffee cake, candied lemon and laquer in a complex, satisfyingly rich finish! — 10 years ago

Glentauchers 22yr via Signatory. Wow. Not sure what the alcohol level it was but it packs a strong but quick fade, kick. It’s thin on the palate for its 22yr age. I wouldn’t go out of my way to find it. — 2 years ago
