This was my bottle, and it was opened alongside a ‘15 for comparison sake. Aromatics were similar to the ‘15 (red and black fruit) but less candied. More dirty, but not off putting. However, the finish on this was very unique...it turned very umami/earthy/herbal. Maybe an odd phase as it wakes up? Structure was still very solid (as expected for mountain fruit) so this may hold a while...
Almost two hours later: Better with air. Became more dark chocolate covered. Wow. The savory notes have faded and it’s showing a more rich and dark cocoa type finish. Very enjoyable. — 7 years ago

I really liked this sake and feel like people are giving it crap reviews because its Gekkeikan. A lot of pear and apple flavors, crisp and clean. — 7 years ago
Enjoyed more than anticipated for a milky sake — 8 years ago
Clear yellowish amber with a white head. Sweet malt on the nose, citrus and a little herbal. A bit sweet on the palate too with sweet spices like cinnamon and caramel, some rice, yellow fruits and hops too. Long finish with a medium to full body. — 8 years ago
An interesting sake out of LA. Drip or shizuku sake, it’s reading a bit sweet for me but true to its -3 SMV rating. They say the acidity is a bit higher than normal to balance it out which also comes across. It would be interesting to see the acidity lower. I will try the others they make and the beers look interesting as well. — 2 years ago

Day 2 of Napa in the books!
The flagship offering from DA. 100% estate cab. Lots of similarities to the Old Vine Cab, but less spice and more sweetness. Would love to open one of these next to a Chappellet PH cab for comparison sake. Undoubtedly red and black fruit dominant with powerful and sweet oak. There is dark chocolate covered black cherries, fresh squeezed blackberries and underripe plum. Almost velvet like on the palate at this age. Needs time, of course, to fulfill its really nice potential. — 7 years ago
Completely misleading as a Pinot Noir that acts as a Cabernet. Very rich cherries and smoke. Hard to rate in its category so I rate for enjoyment sake. — 8 years ago
