A fine everyday CS, but not spectacular — a year ago
Gavi comes from small growing area in northwestern Italy located north of Genoa on steep slopes of Ligurian Apennines. White label is La Scolca’s everyday wine, an alternative to their “Black Label”. From Cortese di Gavi grape (younger vines), pale yellow with delicate aromas of stone & citrus fruits. Palate, with extended lees aging shows rich apple & lemon flavors, nutty notes, good mouthfeel. Crisper than ‘17, medium finish, vivid acidity ending with a mineral character. Nice! — 2 years ago
This is a great everyday drinker. Aromatic nose, burst of fruit on the palate. Medium-low acid, smooth tannins. Nice warming finish. Black cherry, currant, raspberry, plum. End notes of oak, vanilla, and a hint of cocoa. Adding to my regular rotation. — 9 months ago
Great everyday wine. And so cheap — 5 years ago
“To know, know know it is to love, love it”…always surprisingly fine wine, little known. The name speaks loudly and Tuscan…but it’s it’s not…it is distinctively Italian with it’s own central Italy region and grape. Balanced-smooth, controlled tannins and soft palate…medium bodied, deep red berry, darker flavor…a repeat for us and a long-time member of the “Everyday Club”. — 2 years ago
WS says value buy, and it’s on the money. Nice red fruit and floral upfront. Medium body with silky finish. $13-$14 price makes this Pinot an everyday wine. — 3 years ago
