Drunk review 5: this tastes bushy. I know this, because I’ve been pushed into bushes. Blackberry, cardamon. Airy, woodsy aftertaste. Super enjoyable. Would pair this with pets for a Brittany dog, a English Setter, or a Norwegian Elk hound— a dog that enjoys navigating the woods. — 2 months ago

Strawberry, rich, very smooth. So good with our elk steaks! Catan night with Jared, Sam and Jess (and Grace). — 3 months ago
This is Rex Hill not Elk Cove...smoky on the nose, nicely restrained fruit, but a little too acidic for my taste - maybe needs to sit longer? Opened an hour early but still plenty of sparkle — a month ago
Black fruits. Nice balanced CDP that was a nice match with lamb and elk. — 2 months ago
Day and acidic perfect with elk or other gamey meat — 3 months ago

Selected from the HSWM shelf to accompany the bevy of wines from Piemonte already at the table. I’ve been a huge fan of Cappellano’s Barbera d'Alba in the past and this certainly impressed, as I expected it would. It worked really well with the hangar steak but it was holding something back. We took the remaining half of the bottle home and the real fireworks show came on Day 2 paired with some homemade Bolognese that I made with some ground elk. Undergrowth, dark fruit, figs, dark tilled earth, cumin, spiced meat and what fantastic acid!! Tannins seem to be medium. Sediment appears to be medium plus…lol…there’s a lot. Yes, the price is steep for a "modest" Barbera but when you consider the overall quality and satisfaction, this absolutely delivers and absolutely worth it. — 4 days ago
