Pale pale yellow - incredibly pale for a 13 year old wine. All the descriptors for aged Hunter Valley Semillon - Lemon, beeswax, wet straw, lanolin. Still with sprightly acid - zesty. Will go on for a few more years. One of the premium Semillons in the Hunter along with Lovedale and Vat 1. ILR standing for the owner and winemaker, Iain Leslie Riggs. See previous note in September 2018. Also December 2017. — 3 years ago
Great value and good flavor dessert wine. 18.5% alcohol so it packs a punch. Candy aroma. Very sweet on the palate with subtle spiciness. Chocolate covered cherries and butterscotch - but with a mature leathery lingering finish. Bought in 2019 - consumed in 2021. — 4 years ago
Another modern style Chardonnay like the Nanny Goat from Otago had a few days ago. The 2nd of 2 premium Chardonnays from Xanadu - the other being the Reserve. Glenn Goodall the winemaker says the main difference between the 2 is that the Stevens Road has an “oyster shell “ character which I get. Also a saline, mineral note. The next night some delicious white peach notes. Oak is perfectly balanced (25% new Barriques). Could cellar for another 5 years if so desired. — 2 years ago
Very intense, premium Tannat. Impressive, especially due to lack of previous experience with high altitude wines. — 4 years ago

Good aromatics, very smooth, light mouthfeel considering the depth of vanilla, and maple syrup. Nice fruit overtones, apricot? — 8 months ago
Dark, glass-clinging ruby red with black core. Inviting nose of tarry blackberry and burnt violets. Full palate yields the same in a cobbler with dried plum (not prune… more desiccated) and a hint of cocoa Creme. Dusty medium tannins… far less assertive than the primary variety would portend. Medium plus acidity. Evidence that Uruguay can produce premium wines at a reasonable price. True to their Italian heritage, the Pisano brothers make wines that fit the local cuisine. In this case, beef is where it's at, but any hearty fare (ribs, root veggies, tenderloin, cassoulet) will pair well. Drink now through 2028. — 3 years ago
This is Bass Phillip’s entry level Cuvée of about 5 different Cuvées. Pale Ruby with cloudiness from BP’s policy of bottling unfiltered. Jujube confectionery notes with savoury cherry and forest floor. Light to medium weight palate, made to be drunk young. The fruit for this wine comes from the major part of the Leongatha vineyard (where the Estate, Premium and Reserve Pinots come from). Even though this is a different vintage to previous notes on Delectable for Crown Prince the tasting notes are similar. — 4 years ago
