Conde de Hervias

Rioja Tempranillo 2012

Ridiculous Rioja. Has all the goods. Deep ruby color. Wonderful aromas of dark cherries and black fruit with dill, vanilla, some clove and licorice. Leather and semi sweet chocolate. Medium acids and medium tannins but plenty of aging potential. Would be hard to improve though. — 8 months ago

Donatella Cinelli Colombini

Il Drago e le Otto Colombe Toscana IGT

Vintage 2018 | I do not know wines of Donatella Cinelli Colombini that have disappointed me. This cuvée is new to me. The dragon in the label is Carlo, Donatello’s husband. The 8 doves on the label are the women who made the wine. This is the first Italian winery staffed by women only. It’s a bit curious for the grapeblend that is used is unusual: 60% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and 20% Sagrantino. Purple red colour. Beautiful cherries in smell, vanilla and a hint of cacao. Very vibrant taste with good acidity. I paired this dragon wine with a diabolo spaghetti. A sauce of San Marzano tomatoes and red pepper, pancetta and minced beefmeat. — 5 months ago

Quinta das Arcas

Conde Villar Alvarinho 2019

Once again this is vinho Verde at its very best. Pear, cantaloupe, chalk. There's that mineral thing on the nose that tells you it's going to be great 😊 the palate is very well made with a great acid backbone, a good width and mouthfeel, some pear and slightly lemony notes, before a long and fresh finish that goes on for a while. Why is everyone overlooking Vinho Verde? — a year ago
