Domaine de la Solitude

Réserve Secrète Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2018

2018 vintage. Chock full o' rich, plummy goodness. Heavy bodd. A sumptuous, savory treat. Some choco/fudginess loitering about and pushing in broad daylight. Now or in twenty with a guarantee of deliciousness throughout. 3.15.23. — a year ago

Château Sociando-Mallet

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 vintage. Open for nearly an hour and the nose is closed for business. Medium/Heavy body and flavors coming through tho. Blackberry. Big cherry/plum combination. Choco cake. Hint o’ mint. Obsequious richness front-end loaded with the ample tannins jumping into the hot tub at the midway point. The best thing about this young pup is the balance. Could still go for a little more on the back end but the first two-thirds is so nice, I’ve laminated a hall pass with its’ name on it. — 3 years ago

Château d'Aiguilhe Querre

Comtes von Neipperg Côtes de Castillon Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

2015 vintage. Been meaning to try this wine for a few years and finally did. Great value. Herbal, dark choco, plummy notes in the nose. That plus plenty of medium-bodied structure adds up to pretty decent juice. Tastes like 10 years more max for aging would be about right. — 3 years ago

Château Saint-Pierre

St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 vintage. Was disappointed with the same bottle tasted a week ago so popped another. This one showing better. Improved nose of spearmint, leather, dust, dark chocolate covered raspberry and sea salt. Light-medium body. That dark choco-covered raspberry flips to a dark choco-covered strawberry flavor along with graphite, menthol and cedar tones. Still big mouthfeel and dry but not nearly as pronounced as their 2014 vintage in that regard. This could still use an extended vacation of, say, a half decade to decade before revisiting. A hint of softness on the finish now may gather momentum in that time period and make this slightly more approachable then. — 3 years ago

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

Stag's Leap Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Oef.
