Last night was the Confrerie St. Etienne Spring dinner. It was my first time attending. This is a chapter of the original group out of Alsace, France, and is the only chapter here in the US...just happens to be in my neck of the woods! Great introduction to Alsace wines.
Kind of surprised at the reviews here for this wine. Maybe people rated the wrong one? This grand cru Riesling was paired with a Chilean sea bass and both were excellent. Not a lot of petrol on the nose, but it checked off most Riesling notes of honeycomb, pear and had that lovely sweet and quick finish on the palate. — 8 years ago
Beautiful acidity, green apple, lime, slight plastic smell on the nose. Complex pallet slightly warm with baked apples, lime candy, nice minerality. — 10 years ago
Delicious and Creamy!!! Aromas of honey and stone fruits. The palate is teased with flavors of white peach, pear, honey. Pale yellow with nice acidity and a creamy finish. Great with cheese for lunch. — 3 years ago
Probably my all-time favourite white - perfect balance of acidity and sweetness, slight hint of mineral notes and lots of fruit (lychee, peaches, some pear). Lovely stuff! — 5 years ago
Acidic but not sharp, sweet grapefruit and green apple with a hint of green bell pepper — 9 years ago
Fruity, light, slightly bitter — 5 years ago
Go very well with spicy Chinese food — 10 years ago

NV What a good effort of the cooperative from d’Orschwiller. Very refreshing and festive bubbly from Pinot Blanc and Pinot Auxerrois. Got Gold from Gilbert & Gaillard. Expressive mousse. The muselet says ‘Amour’ and that’s a good attitude to this Cremant. And life of course… have a good Sunday. Paired with scrambled eggs for breakfast. — 2 years ago
