This is like a barrel sample. So tight. Nose is not that friendly. You can smell the tannins, with their bitterish dried leafy signature. Some cherry fruit underneath. In the mouth, it’s more open than the nose foreshadows. Rich mineral-infused cherry fruit is there, but surrounded by stern tannic scaffolding. Nice acid balance. Drinks well above its category. Black fruit, fig, anise, camphor, black cherry, sweet spice. Has the Barbaresco finesse which makes sense considering a good portion of the vines fall within the commune. — 8 years ago
