One of the most complex, elegant, and layered white wines I’ve ever had. Its full, creamy body is a cannon of flavor bombs: ripe yellow apple, fresh peach, lemon zest, nutmeg, cream, jasmine, light ash, salted butter, and floral honey. There’s just enough acidity to add freshness to the deep flavors and rich mouthfeel. Absolute 💎 — 7 years ago

Bold, fresh. A Chardonnay cannon. — 9 years ago
A wine from one of many stops while on an Oregon-Washington themed wine cruise. I was pleasantly surprised by the 2015 Puffin Oregon Pinot Gris made by Ray Walsh, former winemaker at King Estate. King Estate's jewel is their Pinot Gris, and this unlikely label sold in an equally unlikely place—proprietor Steven Sinkler sells Puffin from his bespoke shop, The Wine Shack in touristy Cannon Beach—bears the same fingerprint, the same regal pedigree. At least, it's as regal, I think, as Pinot Gris can be. Dappled aromas of white flowers, dewy pear, Granny Smith apple, and lemon zest. And akin to King Estate wines, it's beautifully balanced with sur lie aging lending structure to vivid acidity and talcy minerality. Bravo! — 10 years ago
This was a very fruit forward, on the cusp of being a bold cab, but instead was just a really smooth red. It could almost be made into a sangria. Great summer drink. — 5 years ago
Cannonau? More like cannon-wow! Concentrated fruits, tobacco box, definitely showing its age well! — 6 years ago
Big medium body, kind of spicy with medium tannins. Nice. — 7 years ago
Colour is a very dark crimson with a tawny rim developing. Savoury southern Rhone type aromas of Loam and Tobacco showing more Cinsault than Pinot Noir. Pinotage is regarded as South Africa’s signature variety and is a hybrid of Pinot Noir and Cinsault. Little oak influence on the palate with such savoury dirty flavours it’s almost Bretty but will give the benefit of the doubt. I had a 2013 of this wine a few years ago which showed more black berry fruits than this 2010 now. Kanonkop (note the embossed cannon on the glass bottle ) was one of the first properties to plant Pinotage. I bought this bottle in Stellenbosch in 2013. @David T Iknow David Trumper is over there at the moment and would recommend this wine. — 7 years ago

What a juice! Almond, cherry, iron, a bit of barnyard. There is life in there! The palate is very yummy with a super juicy cherry, a strong grip some roundness in mid palate and a bit of tannins. This is wide and ample and the finish keeps that wide amplitude until the end. It feels like a cherry cannon is firing up in mid palate ans remains straight forward for a very long while. This is 15% but very quaffable. Not as playful and fruitful as others in the region but what a structure! Love it — 7 years ago
Fruit forward, earthy and soft. — 7 years ago
This wine was recommend by Leon from Cannon restaurant in East Sac. Un decanted the wine was pepper bomb and powerful of flavors. Decanted it lightens up and more berry flavor. — 8 years ago
The cannon during the 1812 Overture pales compared to this 2012 perfectly oaked Chardonnay. — 9 years ago
