It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!

Inky in color with a reddish/ brick rim.

Strong nose right out of the bottle with blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, black currants, light raisins, cedar, dried figs, licorice, light vanilla, chocolates, light earth, tobacco, black pepper and mediterranean spices.

Full bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, cooked cherries, currants, light wood, spices, coffee, earth, herbs, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, peppercorn, licorice, light vegetables and black tea.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious Merlot from Tuscany. Nicely balanced, rich and extracted. Complex, soft and elegant. Spicy and entertaining.

This 10 year old Super Tuscan is drinking at its peak now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next few years. Still showing lots of fruits, especially on the nose.

I had this vintage 5 years ago, and it is drinking so much better now.

Good right out of the bottle, and good by itself or with food.

100% Merlot grapes were hand picked and aged in French oak barrels for 15 months.

15% alcohol by volume.

Light yellow color. Aromas of green orchard fruit, white flowers and citrus. Flavors of peaches, nectarines, tropical fruit, green apples, lemon curd, raw almonds and a very pleasing saline note. Beautiful note of minerality on the long finish. Medium-minus body (but still a bit of heft) and refreshing acidity. Lovely silky texture for such a crisp wine. Outstanding QPR. More than just a pretty label. Very good value wine for everyday use. Agree with comment from earlier vintage. Describing day 2 after opening. Starts sweet, then spicy, then finishes with a musky undergrowth. Somewhat dense with subtle tannins. Fruit is a huckleberry/fig melange. Overall unique and interesting. — 4 years ago
