Bodegas El Porvenir De Los Andes

Cheval des Andes

Mendoza Malbec Blend 2014

Joint venture btw Ch Cheval Blanc & Terrazas De Los Andes, blend of legendary Bordeaux "First Growth" winemaking in Argentina. The ‘14 has a higher % of Malbec(83%) & more Petite Verdot(9%) than Cab Sauv,(8%), do to a rainy season that was challenging for Cab. Aged for 15 months in oak (15% new), medium Ruby with aromas of berry fruits and floral spice nose. On the palate flavors of blueberry and juicy blackberry fruit with herb, cacao and smoky oak. Fine soft tannins, well balanced, good acidity, long finish ending with fruit and oak spice. Nice! — 9 hours ago

Opened this a few nights ago, and surprisingly, this vintage fell short. It didn’t display the richness and depth we experienced with 12 and 14 vintages. I look forward to trying the 16, but probably not ready for prime-time at this point. — a month ago

Mendoza Malbec 2014

Wonderful Malbec!
This wine was on sale for less than $7; I bought a case and got an extra extra discount. Yay!!
lighter notes on the nose, jammie blackberry on the tongue; some but not overbearing tannins. Wishing I bought two cases - this bold but delicious wine would pair with so many flavors and incredibly affordable!

Deep red with dark berries and leather. The nose keep developing spices like coriander seeds and black pepper. Reasonably well structured tannins made to last. — 25 days ago
