Grand Cellier d'Or 1er Cru Brut Champagne Pinot Noir Chardonnay 2018

It’s well known that I will bring bubbles to nearly any occasion. However, when a meal presents a particularly difficult pairing, such as traditional Thanksgiving dinner, bubbles are a no brainer. Besides, we’re celebrating gratitude!

This bottle of the 2018 Grand Cellier d’OR was popped, poured and enjoyed over the course of dinner. The wine pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing; bright with remarkable notes of lemon/lime citrus, green apple, tropical fruits, raspberries, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid like fricken laser beams. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, delicious and…*ahem*…chalk-full (sic) of minerals. This is a lovely example from Vilmart who, at this point, really need no introduction. Drink now through 2038. Disgorged July of 2022.

Cuvée l'Âge d'Or Millésime Extra-Brut Grand Cru Champagne 2016

bouquet is deep, complex and vibrant, offering up scents of apple, nectarine, a touch of hazelnut, patissière, a beautifully complex base of soil tones and a top note of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and complex, with a fine core, lovely soil undertow, refined mousse, bright acids and fine focus and balance on the long, classy and wide open finish. — 9 months ago

A rounded delicious partner for neuvo-Filipino @Tabachoy. Sleek enough to play nicely with all the pork richness on the table. Hints of bread and white earth/flowers on the nose. Complete in every way. A great food wine. Nice thread of bubbles never harsh.
Delicious!

Silky red fruit. Surprisingly ripe. Blind I would call Côte d'Or. Not the most complex, but just delicious. — 6 years ago
