Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Nose has ripe blackberry, medium roast coffee grounds, tannic black cherry, crushed milk chocolate, sliced red pepper, tanned black leather and ripe plum skin.
Palate has ripe blackberry, plum, milk chocolate chips, mild new oak, black currant and red clay pottery. Mild tannins are becoming integrated. Decanted 6H.
We enjoyed this bottle with mesquite smoked chuck steaks from a local farmer (Kinderhook Farm; Valatie, NY), cooked slow and low. Manage your temperature and you'll never be disappointed, on the grill for almost 25+minutes, but beautifully medium-rare.
FAW is a staple producer in our cellar, but generally I do not touch anything until at least a 10-12Y birthday. A one off bottle purchase from Costco ($40) so that I can check in on bottles we're waiting on.
75.8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16.2% Merlot, 4.0% Malbec, 3% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc.

FYI, new-ish trending algorithm on Delectable only pushes wines to the feed which can be purchased through Delectable/Banquet. Kind of a 'fake news' feed of the actual popularity on wines in the platform, but what do I know?! I figured since this bottle 'trended' with no likes as of this commentary, I'd let everyone know. I generally don't drink wines that are available via Banquet registered purveyors, since most of our wines are unique or older. Same with 'Tasting Notes: Weeky Roundup' so be aware. Man, we I be impressed if the Delectable "algorithm" detects this one. Picked up a case on my wine journeys through Eastern Europe. Young kid (Tomas Tomac) from 45 min outside Zagreb who spent a couple of harvests w Jasko Graver. 50% Chard, 50% local varieties from 70 yo vines. This is his amphora effort. Grand Rêve Vintners / Force Majeure
Collaboration Series Force Majeure Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
This is a blockbuster of a wine that still needs more time. Nose of cedar & dark fruit, mouthfeel still quite young and fruit still imprisoned by immense structure.
Interesting notes, since some reviewers describe it as Cab/ Syrah blend, and some straight Syrah; my thoughts is those bottles might have had a higher alcohol content and the reviewers were betrayed by a les-than-perfect identification algorithm, or were in their cups by the time they decided to post a review. Let me preface this by saying that I am immeasurably impressed by the entire Delectable IT department for accomplishing an algorithm capable of accurately identifying this as a picture of Clos Ouvert's La Grande Vie Dure carmenere. Beyond that I'm not sure I have much to say other than the fact that this was super-spritzy at first but after a bit turned into what I'd never have guessed for anything other than some kind of syrah, bacon and all. — 11 years ago

Phenomenal wine and perfect accompaniment to a wonderful meal…..
However, this is usually one of our favorite (highest rated……by way of our very complex tasting algorithm 😉 ) wines of the year but for some reason this 2008 vintage was just missing something…..still great but not the best we’ve had — 4 years ago
