From the 2007 vintage, it boasts minty aromas with blackberries, plums, raspberries, black pepper, and discreet creamy vanilla. Very tight and tannic mid to full bodied wine,it shows blackberries, plums, with a anise like mid palate backed up by refreshing acidity. The finish is long lasting, a bit agressive due to the chewy tannins, some sweet spices, crushed black pepper, and a steely mineral streak. Only 33 cases made... Damn! — 11 years ago
Interesting Spanish blend of Mencia (60%), Garnacha (25%), Mouraton/Juan Garcia (7%) and Albarello (3%) with the balance from other native grapes. Medium ruby/purple color. Aromas of limestone, cherry and violets with a definitive “green note.” The pallet is full of red fruit and sour cherries with hints of black pepper, fresh green herbs, dark chocolate, iron and graphite. Soft oak and reasonable acidity. Nice balance. — 2 years ago

Such a rad bottle with the embossed albarello and "i Vigneri 1435." Anyway, it's like smoky liquid volcanic rocks and citrus fruit. The smell of the oils being expelled from the pith as you peel a blood orange. Lemon, too. And a tinge of black fruit, if you imagine the weightless flavor of a blackberry picked off a vine before it gets ripe enough to taste sweet over its acid. It even smells mineral. Focus and clarity without the rusticity/furry tannins and higher ripeness that Etna sometimes has. This is so good. — 10 years ago
