Castello di Amorosa

La Castellana Super Tuscan Blend 2017

Dark ruby/ purple in color with a reddish rim.

Fruity nose of black fruits with cedar, chocolates, spices, herbs and light earth.

Full-bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate and very fruity with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, toast, light vanilla, dark chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, light earth, black tea and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious 8 year old Cabernet based blend from Napa Valley. Fruit forward with nice complexity. Showing a soft mouthfeel, elegant and rich.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with some air time.

Drinking at its peak now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food.

A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 12% Sangiovese. Aged in (90% new) French Oak barrels for 20 months.

14.9% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Castello di Amorosa

Sinalunga Super Tuscan Blend 2012

What's Sinalunga? This is La Castellana! The dark wine - very dark - has aromas to match. The gorgeous nose wafts up from the glass with so much to offer, you might miss the beautiful black plum and blueberry notes. There’s also a hatful of spice and coffee and mocha and vanilla rising. Oh, and don't forget the tobacco and the little smear of tar that drags it all into savory land. On the palate, big, bold fruit blasts forward in a hail of tannins. Be sure to let it air out a good while and have some big, bold, red meat standing by to give those angry tannins something to work on. The blackberry flavors are most pronounced, but they wear a cedar-tinged cloak which is lined with a rack of spices. This is a steakhouse wine, to be sure. An Italian steakhouse. In the Napa Valley. — 10 years ago

Really great wine, one of the more complex chianti classic is we've had. Accompanied one of our best meals in Tuscany at La Castellana - Montefiorella. Mind blowing ricotta and truffle ravioli in quaint setting. — 11 years ago

Suertes del Marqués

7 Fuentes Valle de la Orotava Listan Negro-Tintilla Blend 2018

If I had rated this one the night I opened it, I would have given it a slightly lower score. At first, I caught aromas of leather and meat drippings and flavors of sundried tomatoes. A couple of nights later, the wine had opened up nicely and had more floral and spice aromas and flavors of red berries and earth. Needless to say, an interesting wine, indeed. And from the Canary Islands! Huh. 90% Listan Negro, 10% Castellana Negra. 9/1/22. — 4 years ago
