The Calling Wines

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2014

Recently went to tasting featuring bunch of “TheCalling” Wines. Tasted this ‘14 Pinot 2yrs ago-developed nicely. Sports commentator Jim Nantz & wine guru Peter Deutsch met by chance at CT restaurant, each having dinner w/friends. Jim had a passion for wine and was exploring the next step when Peter stopped by the table, that meeting started a collaboration. Ruby with berry fruit aromas and complex spice. On the palate cherry with vanilla oak and pepper spice. Lingering finish ending with cacao & oak notes. — 5 years ago

The Calling Wines

Dutton Ranch Chardonnay 2018

Jim Nantz' partnership with Peter Deutsch. Hello friends. That is a nice crisp Chardonnay with light acidity. Full, rich mouthful but not a big buttery bomb. Won't kill you at the register. — 3 years ago

Pott Wines (Aaron & Claire Pott and Daughters)

Infinite Improbability Drive Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

What a hedonistic wine, and in all the right ways ✨ Fruit is sourced from the Adler Deutsch Vineyard. Incredibly pure, polished, and expressive. A sensual, tantalizing love note laced in blossoming plumes of graphite dust, succulent plums, plump blackberries, juicy blueberries, Christmas spices from Granny’s cabinet, and fresh eucalyptus. This juice is the real deal. — 4 years ago

@Ryan Vento Ryan Great post and what’s wrong with a hedonistic wine, it sounds good to me Cheers 🍷

Indeed, hedonistic wines can be quite good. Some of them, however, lean towards being a bit too extracted and rich, especially in their youth like this 2016. Alas, this was high quality and balanced.

The Calling Wines

Fox Den Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

By chance, sports commentator Jim Nantz & wine industry entrepreneur Peter Deutsch were together at a restaurant in Greenwich, CT, each having dinner with friends, things developed & The Calling was born. Dark Ruby with aromas of perfectly ripe berry fruits & earthy spice. On the palate cherry and strawberry fruit with spice, cola and earthy notes. Good balance with sturdy tannins needing more time. Lingering finish ending with earthy spice notes. Nice! — 5 years ago
