Quite good, slightly watery — 4 years ago
I opened this 2012 Chateau Pontet-Canet last night and it was stellar. The Pontet-Canet is a 5th growth classification that hits way above that tier. The estate of Pontet-Canet is located in the northern end of the Pauillac commune, across the road from Chateau Mouton Rothschild. The grape variety is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. I describe this one as a restrained elegant beauty. @55Seventy — 7 months ago
Stellar, huge win. Cant say enough about it — 2 years ago
Lots of fruit flavor. One of the best organic wines we’ve had. Not too much tannin. Prior ratings weren’t great but we thought the 2020 was very good. — 3 years ago
Recent notes suggested this wine was declining and the fruit fading. This was cause for concern as have a few of these I’ve been patiently cellaring. Well, I’m very happy to report this bottle, a Martine’s import, was stellar. To my palate, the wine is in a perfect place. Tertiary aromas and flavors dominate. Very complex aromas of sous bois, herbs de provence, wet saddle and red fruits. The palate is vivid and lively. Extraordinary depth and length that never faded. I can’t say enough great things about this wine. There’s no chance this bottle was fading or won’t last several more years. I don’t think it can improve as it’s almost perfection right now. Simply a stunner. — a year ago
What’s notable about this bottle isn’t that it was stellar (it was) but that it was consumed having lunch at a restaurant (outdoors) with someone other than my immediate family for the first time in many months. Of course the experience was enhanced by the gorgeous apple, pear, and lemon curd flavors shot through with chamomile and candle wax. There’s always such a sumptuousness to CndP Blancs that I love. — 3 years ago
