Ceritas

Peter Martin Ray Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Delectable Wine
9.6

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Peter Martin Ray Vineyard is stellar. This super-classic, old-school Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet is pure magic. Black cherry, cloves, licorice, scorched earth, incense tobacco and saddle leather infuse the 2018 with fabulous depth. Potent and virile, the Cabernet is going to need at least a few years to settle down. It’s a stunning wine in every way. Ceritas fans will surely be delighted to learn that the Cabernet offerings here will soon expand to include a number of new bottlings. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, June 2022)

Bearwallow Vineyard Pinot Noir

2020 is brilliant today, right now! Will evolve but enjoy it this summer as it is fresh and balanced. Deep and lively with verve and exceptional length. Should have bought a case of this stellar juice. My fave RM to date. Masterful winemaking. A Cali benchmark for pinot noir. — a month ago

Crozes-Hermitage Marsanne 2017

Pleasure and precision in a light, refreshing frame. Kumquat, pawpaw, a hint of butterscotch hard candy. Vibrant succession of mineral, tart fruit, and dairy flavors. Creamy, lithe and brilliant with a lingering finish. Stellar winemaking. — a month ago

Comm. G.B. Burlotto

Vigneto Monvigliero Barolo Nebbiolo 2011

Consistently Brilliant

Burlotto’s Monvigliero is one of my favorite wines in the world 🌎

DAY 1
Served with the Vinloq System
👃Needs an hour in the glass and 65F/18C. Underripe strawberry, eucalyptus, herbs, & roses. The olive tapenade arrives last. Can a wine smell silky?(synesthesia?)
👅Red cherry fruit, herbs, olives, tar & florals. Velour texture. Tar and cherries linger on the long and lovely finish. Elegant & refined

Slow Decanted the remaining wine in my fridge

DAY 11
👃More fruit than before? Smells totally amazing!
👅The elegant side of Barolo. Total class. Please don’t let this glass empty🙏🏼

The wine was stellar on each occasion 🍷

@"Odedi" Yes. My notes here and on Instagram @Vinloq.notes show how wines evolve when served with the Vinloq System. Check out Vinloq.com for videos/info etc. It’s a simple way to keep all wines from oxidizing for 7-10 days. Better made/cellar worthy wines often improve. Every wine is different. I show my results with my notes
Hope that helps.
BTW, I follow you here and on Instagram and appreciate your thorough posts👍

Vinos Comando

Rozas 1er Cru Vino de Paraje Grenache 2016

Best with 13 days of Slow Decanting

Project created by Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia in the Gredos Mountains. G for grenache. This wine is the product of biodynamic farming of 60 year old vines on granite slopes at 950 meters elevation. I loved this on release and now I want to check in on it’s progress

DAY1
Served with the Vinloq System
Great things on the nose but the palate was mostly closed up. Strawberries, tar, acid, tannins…

Let the remaining wine Slow Decant in my fridge

Day13
👃Red, lightly candied fruit with anise & mushroom broth. Violets and brambles. Lovely perfume. Gevrey-Chambertin?
👅Fruit, licorice tar, violets. Silky. Acid and tannins feel electric on my tongue. Earthy, savory, and persistent finish. Beautiful. Great nuance

Slow Decanting made a big difference. This just needs bottle age to further resolve the tannins and this will be stellar✨

A ridiculous value at purchase, word has quickly spread and now these are hard to find. But worth the effort 🍷

Domaine du Pegau

Cuvée Réservé Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend

Recent notes suggested this wine was declining and the fruit fading. This was cause for concern as have a few of these I’ve been patiently cellaring. Well, I’m very happy to report this bottle, a Martine’s import, was stellar. To my palate, the wine is in a perfect place. Tertiary aromas and flavors dominate. Very complex aromas of sous bois, herbs de provence, wet saddle and red fruits. The palate is vivid and lively. Extraordinary depth and length that never faded. I can’t say enough great things about this wine. There’s no chance this bottle was fading or won’t last several more years. I don’t think it can improve as it’s almost perfection right now. Simply a stunner. — a month ago
