Okanagan Valley Chenin Blanc 2018

Sharp, bracing acidity, slight smokiness, some bitter stone fruit but the fruit is pretty muted. Lovely depth and complexity. The Okanagan is a gem. — a month ago

Rubicon Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2015

Nailed it with Afghan Lamb Kebabs. Out of the gate it’s bright with a Bordeaux character... then turns slightly underripe vegetal... by hour 4 this all smooths out. It was fun tasting it’s evolution for 6+ hours. Great wine, and recommend with hearty food. — 21 days ago

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Fantastic. Was concerned that it might be overly tannic given the drinking windows I saw on-line, but this was approachable right out of the gate. Incredible nose of blueberries, blackberries, currants and bittersweet chocolate, this is a rich, hedonistic wine with an amazing full mouthfeel, sweet, integrated tannins, and a lingering, balanced finish. Reminds me a bit of the 2002. Has a long life ahead of it (no hint of secondary flavors...yet), but is worth a try right now. — 7 days ago

Holloran Pinot Noir 2017

I drink a lot of Oregon Pinot Noir in the $20-30 price range. Right out the gate, this might be my new favorite. Light but with enough body to keep me interested. — a month ago

On The Road Grenache 2012

Always great. Opened this and was big out of the gate still. Not too much. Put it in the fridge overnight. The next day it drank beautifully. Smooth and balanced with ripe fruit. Great wine! — 13 days ago

Hauterives Crozes Hermitage Syrah 2018

Dark juicy plums is the first impression out of the gate. There’s a cassis thing going on here...just don’t know where to place it. Finishes off with some lovely and chewy light-weight tannins. Wait around long enough and smoked bacon is definitely part of the mix. Not a hint of heat at 14.5% ABV. Its unabashed youthfulness is a finger in the eye to its more serious—but expensive—Hermitage sister. Buy a case and drink over the next five years. It won’t get much better but who cares? It’s already there. — 2 days ago

Graves Gate Syrah 2018

This is it. Decent Shiraz. After so many wring attempts. This one is almost perfect for such price. Well balanced, enough body, pleasant afterall. — 2 months ago
